  • Thank you for saving my chipping life with the "Rock your shoulders advice!"

  • On playing lessons with the pros, goosen tells mark walberg to use the pendulum motion without the pivot if i recall correctly. Do different players just have different preferences and how is it normally taught?

  • I dident know Matthew mcconaughey was a golf teacher

  • Thnx for your tip on chipping! Looking forward to working on this drill on the practice facility.

I also wanted to thank you for making vast improvements to my iron game with your swing plane explanation and drills. I've shot consistently in the mid-to-low 80's and recently had a round of 77!!! Thnx again.

  • hey jeff,,,, get a wind screen for your microphone,,, tx

  • instruction is spelled wrong. nice video!

  • Great video!! Thanks for putting out this lesson!! This crazy chipping to me is the hardest shot in the game!!

  • Best expose' on proper chipping technique I've seen ...Very Professional

  • Very good!

  • sounds good.

  • hi jeff

please look at my 4 year old son hitting some great shots,

he s crazy about golf, im hoping to pick up some tips for him from you

  • jeff, your by the far my fav instructor on youtube, thanks alot man

  • Nice but when presenting a video to the regular golfing public people might become prone to hitting the ball back off the green. Start off with lobbing until you get that soft touch down then low chip...

  • do you prefer lob wedges?

  • Great Video

    thanks

  • Thank you for the excellent instruction.

  • I love you. . . Yeah. I could never chip before now chipping is the best part of my game. Of course for some reason I can't hit any other club. Oh well I'll look at your other videos.

  • Do this exact shot with a 5 iron, same outcome but it takes out the chance of a knife.

  • So I just want to confirm, he advises to use the same swing everytime but a different club for different distances correct?

    Thanks!

  • In general, a good way to develop an understanding of distance control is to try a few clubs with the same basic swing to see the "difference" in roll varying clubs provide. In reality, you will need to incorporate feel into the equation creating varying swings for exact distance control.

  • @spyder357

He seen that in one of Lee Trevino's video... I have that video but I havent posted...

But that's a Lee Trevino Tip.

    Junior Bisono

  • Jeff needs to perform the same way he is teaching.

    1. He uses wrists in his "arm only swing" example 3:13 of the video

    2. He has an open stance to the target line and the club face example 4:09

Jeff is not a bad teacher just needs to watch his own videos

  • The general idea for chipping is an arm driven swing, however, some wrist action is helpful depending on distance. The technique in the video is correct even though I explained as "basically" a no wrist motion. The stance for me personally is as square as possible, but I did not say a touch open, no closed would be "incorrect." Golf is an art form which needs a lot of flexibilty in how we play each shot. Each lesson should not be taken as 100% "literal" as long as the ideas produce results.

  • Jeff sounds like Phil Helmulth

  • @Deftard give me a break! he's got the stones to put himself on camera for millions to critique. he's not a robot--he's human. i'm sure he relies on feel more than mechanics. and i'm willing to bet a lot of his vids are geared towards beginners and intermediates. give him a break. or better yet step up to the plate and let us all watch you swing the bat!

  • dude is buff and knows his stuff!

  • Thank you sir, that was the most informative 5 minutes I've ever spent. Of all I've seen, you are so far the best, please keep it up.

  • simple and effective.............thanks!!

  • I like Jeff's method of teaching, I've scanned many chip shot videos and even went to the Pelz short game school to help solidfy my approach, what I like best about Ritter is the simplicity of his method --- no gimmicks, square stance, weight forward. This will surely help those with the chipping yips.

  • really great tips for short game; i'll put it to use my next round
