It looks like Cobus uses the heel toe technique for his double bass, but the swivel technique for his single bass. Hmm. I shall try this in a minute.

@loganrideslions sound/feel. Clear are more open and bright whereas coated (white) are more warm and controlled. There are exceptions to this, but generally, that is the case

@Mr8tavo Yeah, he's using a double kick, but he's playing them two strokes each; that's how he does those hand-hand-kick-kick fills with just one foot. For the straight double kicked parts, he was going like r-r-l-l-r-r-l-l, fast. Besides the technique, just takes practice :)

I know what you mean by getting up to standard before playing heavier stuff, (I dont have any means of recording properly yet by the way, hopefully one day soon I can get videos up here though). I have an 8 piece kit that I shrunk down to a 5 to try to get back to basics, and I don't regret it one bit my playing has improved ten fold.
