  • This is REAL music

  • Love how the best ever actor introduced the best ever musicians.

  • I've just discovered this clip for the first time and although I am obviously familiar with the song, I am speechless at the total magnificence of the performance.

  • I agree 1000 percent the best musician.

  • great one! just for the record its `sound of silence`. Not `soundS of silence`.

  • I could never tire of them. I miss them.

  • Blimey what's happened to Art's barnet? That aside they are musical perfection.

  • They might be in their 70's here but they embarrass anyone who' around today with their pure talent. Nothing compares to this Robbie Williams wouldn't even come close to this. Outstanding and very very sad to see them looking so old but sounding as good as they ever did.

  • 2 people are Simon and Garfunkel, they are so Moddest, they even thumb down their own video.

  • magnificent musicianship, wonderful unity..... powerful indictment of our life and times. It's 2011...... and I first heard this in the 60's. Every word still rings true.

  • I do not think in the history of the music will repeat a similar duo

  • So good <3

  • I never cease to be amazed how these two can create such powerful music with so little. They sound great backed by a band, but it speaks volumes that they can stand there alone with a single guitar and capture the hearts and enchant the minds of every listener.

  • @jaywolfenstien exactly thats basically all they are, 2 voices and a guitar, and they reached greatness just with that.

  • First note of music I ever heard in my life. I rediscoverd S&G a million times over since then, but it always takes me back to that place not far from the cradle.

  • they still got it

  • what a blending!! legendary as it is!!

  • 2 people can't appreciate good music.

  • @iamthegreatest2006 I think there's some people who do it on purpose on every video they're on

  • will allways move me

  • es una cancion hermosa ojala y hubiera mas musicoc asi y no payasos

  • Still excellent music!!! :-)

  • the best

  • why does 2003 seem so long ago.

  • k i've always loved the song but that performance was brutal to sit through. must've sucked for anyone who's never heard the original.

  • @mayankho you suck you fucking jerk

  • Can't get any better than that!

  • wow

  • amazing song, heard it a million times and still everytime is like the first!

  • their songs are full of memories of their generation.

  • these guys are great

  • they are not just amazing singers but amazing story tellers as well

  • ich liebe dieses Lied....best duo ever to grace music scene

  • superb

  • wow!

  • Thanks for posting. This is one of the best

  • eine einzigartige harmonie der stimmen...never heard before....grooßartige künstler - zeitlos - sanft - voller kraft und einfach genial - weltklasse - über all die vielen jahre...danke danke danke an die vielen jahre die ich eure musik hören darf

  • Muito Bom !!!

  • Simon and Garfunkel are two of the finest gentlemen to ever be involved in the music world. The best of the best.

  • This is most likely the best version of this song I've ever heard them do. Their worn out voices give it an almost eerie quality.

  • It's amazing how their voices have retained it's perfect quality.. over all these years.. and their age.. but they still sing as good as they did many years ago

  • the best duo in the world. love how their harmonized

  • i luv this song...i also luv emiliana torinni version too

  • still friends!omg, that's so touching!

  • Simon and Garfunkel inspired me to write when I was 13 years old. ( I was born in the late 70's) I will always be a fan of their music.

  • it's the same thing for me

i've listening the english with these song ,

    and french too!!

écoutez le le son du silence il vous dira, tant et tant

    bye

  • I love them so much. They are the best duo of all time. their songs are timeless. Paul Simon is a genius. His album "Graceland" is one of the best Albums I have every heard and in my opinion a timeless classic. It seems like a lot of people who are commenting are around my age. It proves how meaningful music is long lasting . I like older music recently. new music doesn't have the Magic like Simon and Garfunkel.

  • this makes me wish I grew up in the 60's-70's :( I"m an 80's baby. I love old tunes such as these ones. Such meaning behind them. Most artists today sing about whatever will make them money. I miss Lauryn hill.

  • God isn't to be thanked for anything except inciting mass hallucination.

  • word...

  • Ellos me encantan.

  • I don`t see any evidence of self-righteousness, neither in my or previous comments. Comments here are appreciative of this clip. There`s plenty of that elsewhere on youtube, but your average S and G fan is more magnanimous than most.

  • he's a whole head taller! :)

  • He always has been much taller :P

  • Have not seen this clip before.........great, two talented artists...can't wait to see them in concert.

  • I grew up listening to my Mom playing this ..

It's awesome they can still harmonise (sp) like this.

Just a treat to listen to. Thanks for sharing.

  • Listen to "Old Friends." These two were/are amazing...

  • A friend of mine, who`s a bit rough at the edges, branded these 2 as "arrogant a***oles" when I mentioned them. So I scoured youtube looking for evidence of such. And couldn`t find any. Some people are sure jaundiced. And what a song.

  • gemo33; yes, their music is true world music- touching folks from all around the globe. My mother used to play their songs to death for my father when they were young. Funny to think about because they still play and I have been to one of their concerts, a band for all generations! :-)

  • molto bella..........schein.....

  • What is the meaning of this song?

  • its about the lack of communication between people and how it affects us

it was written right after JFK's assasaination

  • how does that have to do with his assasination?

  • it was just written in the aftermath

its just that the event adds to the song's meloncholy i think

  • It's an old song yet sooo now ! People keep on writing ! Love this song. Thnx Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel

  • Just Brill!

  • We are so lucky to have these guys making music and singing for us. It's timeless and poetic

  • idle44; exactly! Timeless and poetic as well as written and performed by actual humans with a conscience and integrity..

  • I'm 22 and I listen to these guys almost religiously. I really wish I was around back in the 60s and early 70s when these guys were as old as I was...

  • Gosh, me too! They are so amazing. Of course they're not the only reason I wish I was around back then.

  • me too! i'm 21 and absolutely love and respect the work that these guys have done.

  • ....i love you...

  • I would love to know what everyone's definition of rasp is, because there is none in Art's voice. His voice is different because it just changed. It is still the voice of an angel and compliment's Paul's songs perfectly.

  • I think Art's voice has aged a lot and sounds old. It's still very very beautiful though. And it still fits magically with Paul's. Definitely no rasp in it but maybe a little strain now. My two cents.

  • This is almost a religious experience...

  • I find it stunning that the average age people who have left a comment on this video is somewhere around 22. I think it speaks volumes about the songwriting ability and musicianship of Paul Simon. I am more of a heavy music fan myself, but it is very hard to hard to argue that Simons songwriting chops are beyond brilliant and the best in class for those who write music as an art. They are old men now, but this performance is very good. For me, it is just great to see them perform together.

  • oh how i wish they'd tour once again! i love these guys

  • I remember watching the concert in Hyde park on the reunion tour, it was awesome

  • i miss u so much

  • Pauls voice, even today still sounds the same but Art's has changed alot. As much as I love Art, he sounds more raspy now.

God, I love these guys though...

  • the raspiness really makes them sound weathered, and adds a feeling of jadedness to the songs.

  • Brilliant, legends.

  • If this version doesn't make you get at least a little misty, something's wrong with you. WOW!

  • Unfortunately Garfunkel's voice isn't what it was, but it was still nice.

  • I got goosebumps watching this.

  • I usually listen to rock and heavier music, but I really LOVE this song!

  • What a beautiful song... fantastisch...

  • This song sounds touching.

    thanks for posting.

  • great! great! great! foreever great! i love this song.

  • I really like this, thanks for a great vid

  • I love them so much!

  • great song, very pretty verison as well

  • bravissimi come sempre
