The link to the suction cups has expired. I own a cellphone repair shop. I would advise using a vaccum suction cup. Baku makes a good one. This is the best way to open an iphone without damaging it. Unless you know what you are doing inside. I would advise not opening it arbitrarily.
Btw for those looking to remove the screws: you can buy the tiny screwdriver kit from many dollar stores. It comes with like, 5 flat heads and a couple of tiny star ones (the preferred ones in this case). These are in there tight, so ensure you don't damage it. I held it firm in my hands while applying good pressure (pushing into the screw head with the tip of the screw driver prior to turning) and it was easy.
PS: be careful spraying contact cleaner on the home button. Now my screen is wet :(
Thanks for showing us the procedure, it was super easy. Btw I used a great suction cup: the one from my Garmin 3.5" gps unit. It has a super powerful suction but also a quick release for when you're done. Best of all, it has a nice grip so it's a lot easier to manage while pulling. I also placed tape at the top of the ipod (loosely just enough to allow it move about) in case I dropped it or something. But with the great gps suction cup it was a breeze. Many thanks.
Apple sucks in the sense that they intentionally make their products so that you're not supposed to be able to upgrade or repair them yourself very easily. :(
wow really!? tell us to turn it off at the end while we just finished doing it!? all the connections stayed but my iPhone wind even turn on light up or do anything!
When I was at camp I put my iPhone 3GS in my backpack and food got into the right speaker(microphone) and now people can't hear me as well when I call them or when u make a video or voice memo. Any suggestions?
@AnonymousWatcher iPod 3gens don't have a screw :( i left mine in backyard, in 2nd rainiest city in U.S. and very humid during the whole summer and spring and it actually makes the "charging" sound and tells me to plug into itunes when plugged into wall charger, but my computer won't recognise it.
For the iPod touch 2G do you have to anything besides pulling up the suction cup? I heard there were clips or something under the screen that needed to be unclipped before you could pull the screen up.
THANK YOU BRO!!!! JUST FIXED MY IPOD TOUCH 2G WITH YOUR HELP! I'LL BE MAKING A VIDEO JUST LIKE YOURS TO HELP OTHERS! I WAS ABOUT TO SPEND $50+ JUST TO FIX THIS PROBLEM!!
@originaluploader thnx this was helpfull... my 3gs doesnt vibrate anymore would u be kind enough to let me know how to fix it.. or if u have the video please upload thank you very much..
