Heavy metal was born back in 1970 by Zeppelin and Sabbath.I could say that these 2 bands are the whole metal universe, nothing would exist without them. Deep Purple, Scorpions, Judas Priest,Rainbow,ACDC,KISS,UFO,B­lue Oyster Cult,e.t.c did amazing things too back in 70s. 80s was the best decade for metal. You need to be careful NOT to post your opinion as fact. Jimmy Page formed LZ & has always denied the "Heavy Metal" label! Rather, he had a Blues band in mind. In fact, Heavy Metal wasn't classified as a genre until the '80's! Most metal bands do pay homage to LZ as an influence, however. But that does not make LZ a metal band - or heavy metal music!
