En realidad la cancion esta tocada con un instrumento boliviano que se llama RONROCO que Gustavo Santaolalla encontro en uno de sus viajes. El instrumento es un poco mas grande que el charango pero suena dentro de todo parecido.

Great work. I bought a charango instead of a ronroco thinking this song was played with a charango. It seems that you and francostelle are both using ronroccos. Im thinking of getting a charango but Im not sure how it feels to play. I've played the mandolin and i find that the fretboard is too small, and i have played the ukulele and I find it goes out of tune too easily. Have you tried these? How does the charango compare?

@saculaicrag, i have fooled around with a mando, and a uke, i admit that i don't play much charango anymore, but it definitely feels different. The fret board is wider than a uke or a mando. Some chords can be hard to fret at first others really easy. The strings are nylon, so they're softer on the hands the mando's. The tension of the strings on a charango is higher than on a uke. The biggest thing to get used to is the reentrant tuning (the top stings arent necessarily the lowest)

I have tried to look it up on the internet but no results.

Anyhow, nice version of the song. First time I heard it when watching 'the motorcycle diaries' I was really impressed.

but it is an andean instrument, it is now played in peru, bolivia, argentina, chile and ecuador. My charango is from ecuador actually. The charango is played in the north of argentina, in the tucuman region, some charango masters have come out of there, jaime torres for example.

Muito obrigado por o comentario, nao sou brasilero, sou canadense, y ainda vou aprendendo portugues.Mais gosto muito da musica brasilera, especialmente a samba, estou aprendendo a tocar cavaco y varios instrumentos de percusao brasileros (surdo, repinique, ganza, etc). if you want to play it exactly like this you'd have to retune your guitar, its possible to play it almost the same with the standard guitar tuning, you'd just be missing the bottom string on the charango. you basically just have to understand how a charango is tuned compared to a guitar. I have the tabs for charango if you want, msg me your email if you want them

No Gustavo plays it on the ronroco, a big charango. If you look in the related videos you can see a video of him playing it and it isn't on guitar. Its kind of an obscure song so there aren't really any tabs for it, using francostella's how to vid, filling in what was missing I have tabbed the song for charango, send me your e-mail if you want a copy. You can kind of play it on guitar using the same tab, you just have to understand how the charango is tuned in relation to the guitar

thanks man, if you like this song you should check out the rest of the soundtrack to the movie, its got that same feel in many of the songs. I did take some classical guitar lessons a while back, a good base to start off with, and I'd like to take more but right now i don't play that much classical music.
