Always like this game... Great sound Really Good Graphics for the time. (Still no Multi Scrolling but it didn't matter) This should have come with the system instead of Keith Courage....
When I was a kid playing this game I thought it had the most awesome music! Some pretty sick games were made for the TurboGrafx 16...my favorites were The Legendary Axe, Devil's Crush, Keith Courage in Alpha Zones and JJ and Jeff!
There are licensing issues with this particular game and it's not likely we'll be seeing this on the VC. Hudson has also stated that their focus is on WiiWare for now.
dose anyone know if this was released or will be relased on the v console on the wii, i have not been following tg 16 content like i should have apolagizes, thanks for any info...
hi ,I have a question you may be able to answer. I have just bought after looking for ages! a new boxed turbografx, up to the point it arrived I allways thought it was called the Turbogrfx-16? (as it is described all over the place) but no-where on the box is the ident "16" used? just "turbografx" any ideas? or other unfo? cheers
Awe man! I was in the 11th grade when I got Turbo Grafx 16 at Electronic Boutique in 1990. My first game was Blazing Lazers. Talk about awesome graphics and sound! Believe it or not, I still have the system intact.
Looks a hell of a lot like the NES version of Astanayx (or however you spell that). Those idols that are littered across the levels that give you powerups look the same as well.
Got this one for one of my birthdays! 14, I think. I hated having to wait till after a long visit to my grandmama's to play it. I was so mad. Ungrateful bastard.
only good game I have for my turbo at the moment

I remember getting this game with the turbo grafx and going "Whoa! Cool!". The sound and graphics were unbelievable!(keep in mind it was 1991).

Same here. I had to find some games I had lost over the years (Ebay was great for that), but now I have them and then some.

'Legendary Axe' sort of reminds me of an odd cross between 'CastleVania' & 'Golden Axe.'
Nice gameplay footage, by the way!

this brings SO MANY wonderful memories. This game rules along with Bonks adventure and Keith Courage!

I believe there was a loud "Bang" when striking with the axe powered up.

and a bright flash when you max out the power of your axe.

True, only the graphics and sound were a LOT better in Legendary axe. I did like Astyanax(sp?) though.

That game's a lot of fun.

The TG-16 was an nes with faster cpu/memory. So imagine Asty running on it.
