  • Yeah minor threat's version is simply different, and as a big fan of minor threat i agree that the wire version is better. though it feels like wire wrote this song for minor threat to cover. both are great!

  • oops saw them live when i was 16 so gottobed!

  • Minor Threat's version is good, for very different reasons to why this is good.

But overall I'd call this version better. And this is coming from a Minor Threat fanboy who only discovered Wire because of them.

  • awesome descrition in the bar man, sums it up perfectly, thanks for giving me a hard on :D

  • refreshing. all of these processed and spit out clones nowadays could take an example from Wire.

  • Great Tune!!!!

  • I love this version. Can anyone tell me where this is from?

I own Wire's 'Pink Flag' and this is not the album version.

  • @badbrain94

It's from the Album -'The Roxy London WC2'

  • Louisville Ky. Mag Bar. Magnolia St.

  • class

  • you can tell the guys into Fugazi liked this band

  • The Rolling, uh, WHAT ?

  • Seeing them Feb 2011!!! Hope to f**k they play this!!!!!

  • minor threat version is way better

  • @wyman1232 you extremely wrong, this version beats the shit out of minor threats, and i love that version, go eat shit asswhipe

  • i still like minor threats cover better. wire is punk but minor threat is hardcore punk.

  • @navebucketdude Goddamn i hate all that shit. Punk is punk, why must you all take these sub " forms" of punk and say " ths isnt this, its that!". No. It's all justpunk.

  • @navebucketdude no band can better any song off this record. fuck minor threat. the best thing they ever did was a cover of the standells

  • @ScocapsUK Phylicia Rashad

  • Best song ever, and this version even beats the one on Wire's Pink Flag. I used to have this version on cassette in 1978 or so, but I can't recall from which album it came. Was it Live at the Roxy?

  • Yeah, the original was better then the Minor Threat cover. This one beats it out.

  • @CaustiKJesuS

    Minor Theatre.

This is better measured in any ways.

  • Fucking brung back a few memories this one.....

  • Luke and Ada methinks

  • "This song is dedicated to Luke and Ida"

  • 12XU

  • This was one of the first songs I ever learned to play.

  • Same here, it was worth every cent and every second, wasn't it?

Love to sing this in german:

    Ein, Zwei, Bumsen, Sie!!

The Deutchen guys from work love it!!!

  • There was once an album called "Burning Ambitions---A History of Punk." It included this song as well as others from different artists. That is a great one to add to your collection.

  • where can i find this?

    it has to be awesome...

  • I only had it on record so it may be a difficult thing to find.

  • Don't you know it, you pussies?

    X=Fuck

    One Two Fuck You!!!!

  • This is pure punk for raw people, stuff the lot of you!

  • Comment removed

  • wanst it, want to ex you?

or is that the minor threat version,

  • wire is kick ass period you fucker!!

  • Comment removed

  • minor threats version was so much more fucking kick ass

  • NO SPAM

  • ha ha ha

"so much more fucking kick ass "

    so stupid

  • look dude, I'm not gay, so you'll have to find someone else for your gay sex.

Man, you are so fucking retarded. You should kill yourself.

"Kill you with one punch" HA HA! Go talk shit anonymously online with your little Warcraft friends. Moron.

  • Smoking.

  • live at The Roxy. Anyone got any Johnny Moped.?? Great upload , ta

  • Does anyone else get the feeling that Wire's music had an influence on Mission Of Burma (who are another one of my favorites)?

  • has anyone ever heard the welsh band The Abs? Damn good stuff

  • Minor Threat play the main riff all jumbled up. Thoroughly enjoy both versions though.

  • wild crazy pure punk

  • the roxy 1977 at its best

  • what is this song about?

  • Loyalty.

  • Blackmail.

  • one two fuck you.

    that's what the "x' is.

they decided to forego all the censorship shit and just call it "x". pretty smart actually.

This has got to be one of the most cover ounk songs, with good reason. I did it twice.

Who wrote this, Newman, Lewis, Gilbert or Grey?

  • This was Wire's third and final encore last NIGHT!!! The band utterly blew my mind!! Wire are a priceless audio factory. Quintessential listening. Sounds they made last night were incredible. Audio-phonic stimulation. AND!! the new album is incredible. Thanks for great the vid. Wire are the phffshizzle!!

  • I'd forgotten how rough this version was! They really had only being playing for a very short time, but they just had so many great songs. I think all the bands since who've 'borrowed' their ideas thought so too.

  • This should have a picture of the "Live at The Roxy" album sleeve if we're being picky!

  • Minor Threat did a hardcore cover of this song. Good stuff.

  • there's no such thing as a better punk band.

  • this version is off On Returning, the studio version (i think) is on Pink Flag

  • This appeared on the compilation album 'Live at the Roxy'. Also had Adverts, Eater, X-Ray Spex

  • brilliant. brilliant. thank you

  • I could be wrong, but I think this live version could also be found on the "best of 1977 - 1979" Wire album, On Returning. Its been a long time since I heard that though, so I might be mistaken.

  • ^_^ how much is the record for this album worth?

cuz i (lol my dad) has it

...i listen to it more ^^

  • 12xu = 1 2 fuck you?

  • @SevenStringSoldier: Best guess I've come across.. Good job

  • How about 1 2 ex you? Like finish with you, I'm done with you, ex you, fuck off?

We'll have to ask Newman, Lewis, Gilbert or Grey...

but I reckon I'm on to something :P

  • top tune btw, top band

  • the remake that came out around 2000 was titled "want to ex you" ... but I think everyone is overlooking that, in the UK at least, in print an X is a kiss...

  • wtf happened to the video?

  • who was the original artist for this song ive heard minor therat etc do it

  • Wire is the original artist... Both Ian Mackaye and Henry Rollins are big fans of wire and have covered them occassionally, i.e. Minor Threat's 12XU and The Rollins Band's Ex Lion Tamer.

  • Hm. Never heard of SOX PISTELS

  • You're kidding, right? Jimmy Rottin and Ned Vicious were punk rock pioneers. Everybody who's anybody knows the Sox Pistels.

  • hahah

  • pink flag album is really good!!!! get it

  • does minor threat cover this?good song!

  • yes, you are right. minor threat covered this song in their "complete discography" album.

  • Flex your head...

  • dick lucas fan?

  • is this a single version or something? Sounds different to the one on Pink Flag.

  • No, I recognize this one. It was from a great slap-dash album titled "Live At The Roxy, London WC2" that also included tracks from The Buzzcocks, XRS, Adverts, Eater & Johnny Moped. Wire also had a nice version of "Lowdown" represented on that one, too.

  • OMG that's such a great album! I like the version of "Lowdown" even better than the studio LP! Someone should make a video for that one!

  • yeah..i got that album..it's a classic cos it showcased a lot of good bands at the time.

  • Yep Lowdown is filthy on the Roxy lp. Imagine what Starnge could have sounded?

  • dizz nigguh
