My oppinion, if the villagers left their village to another city in Bali (Denpasar, Kuta, atc) they can get more water, and their villages can be reconstructed, the government planted by trees for a new forest on the drylands. So water can be absorbed by the forest, and no more drought in Bali. Another benefits, forest save our earth from global warming and can also used as tourism attraction isn't it? Not only hotels and golf can attracted touists. What do you think? PEACE.

Some of the profits from the hotels should be funneled to create water supplies for the people living there. If not! I suggest all tourists go to Thailand! They have more common sense in Thailand, and are more concerned with their own people over profits!

I am going to go out on a whim here and say there are deeper cultural problems that give these people the economic instability. They are obviously failing to take advantage of opportunity for some reason. Why not use the money from tourism for education and create laws that cap water use. Like a water tax...

The problem is that Bali, unlike the rest of Indonesia which is Muslim, in Hindu. The central government in Muslim Jakarta takes all the taxes and revenue from Bali and screws the people.

Lol, Aceh has been poor as fuck long before the tsunami. They have been fighting for independence for decades due to severe neglect by the government despite being the strongest initial supporter of the foundation of the Republic of Indonesia.

I understand the sentiment of the Balinese people though. Minorities everywhere on this world always feel that they are disadvantaged because of their race or belief. The blacks in USA are one similar example. The Malay Muslims in Thailand are another.
