Is there a way to change the name of the 'region'. When I want to load a game it shows my two saved games and calls them 'region1' and 'region2'. Is there a way to change this to something a bit more meaningful like '1stTry' or 'YTWorld'?

@captnduck I looked for many levels, but underground there is only ice channels too. Maybe I'll have to choose a new map that isnt on a freezing temperature.

@captnduck I found out today that ice actually starts to turn into liquid water after it rains on your map.

For some reason my dwarf fortress framerate seems to drop down to about 16 whenever i play now. It used to be very fast before i can't figure out whats happened anyone help?

I like watching this video and other LPs, because even if you aren't going out of your way to teach yo uare still imparting your knowledge just by doing stuff... I never really sat and watched all the vids or read the entire wiki, so at the 15:00 mark I learned how to make a chicken-splosion.

Capt. duck, I am a huge fan of your videos. Please don't stop teaching dwarf Fortress. I still have a hard time with some of the features, and your videos are a constant reference point for me. I know this is just supposed to be you playing, but please consider explaining some stuff for people like me that learn by example.

Judging by the first view of your embark location: the dwarf transport boat arrived at the island, threw you and your cargo out on the nearest flat surface and buggered off. That or you were shipwrecked.

@LeeSuss I've had something similar happen on a desert island. The caravan kept coming each year, though. Strangely, it seems that dwarves are the only seafaring race right now.

I was just wondering what kind of ground were you planting your farms? Most times, I have to start by draining a lake and making a pool to cover the ground in order to start planting farms.
