this is 3 minutes out of a 20 minute lesson. students need to hear their teachers play real music like this as part of their ear training. the melody is by mozart, btw. the child is distracted by the camera and cameraman, who is the teacher's husband.
This is a hello song from Alfred's Music for Little Mozart series, so really there are not much 'structured' playing, so all depends on the teachers' and kids' creativity. The teacher certainly has a lot of patience.
This music teacher is amazingly patient and complete devotion to her profession and music. However, this boy is either too young for this or completely not into it. I am guessing she has to be his mother to try this hard on this boy and still had so much fun herself. May be piano is not for the boy. Try something else. If she is not his mother, I say she is the best music teacher for young boys.
I am not even taking children younger than 6.5 years old for my piano lessons. I think it is a waste of time to take any younger children. I feel sorry for the teacher and admire her bravity. Well Done.
I am a musician amusic teacher, and this level is way to hard for the boy, the boy is not interested and wants to leave the room! She should approach the boy with a song he knows perhaps, and start have him play the melody with one or 2 fingers.
i'm a piano teacher also, and altho i agree that they shouldn't have used the word "prodigy" in the title, the teaching method is sound. this is 3 minutes out of a 20 minute lesson. chidren must hear music being played by teachers in order to develop their ear. the 5-yr-old in this vid is distracted by the camera and cameraman. i know this because i attended the workshop where this vid was first presented. the cameraman is the teacher's husband, who is a teacher himself.
the child is learning the notes C & F, and has remembered the song from the previous week where it was first presented. the melody is by mozart, so he's learning that by ear too.
not really idiot it because the music is not on the right level for that kid plus that sheet is really hard for a 5 year old kid and he should start at level 1 instead so if you dare to prove that grown up are better than go to a music lesson and see if you learn it quick becuese kids are fast learner and i can remeber anything i said well not all of them but short of alot so youre wrong kids learn quickly than other well it depend on how old you
If the music is not at the right level for that kid then you are basically saying this teacher is incompetent...... Only an idiot such thinks that all kids have desire for learning classical piano. I am a piano teacher of 5 years with a dipATCL in piano, some children come to piano lessons to be "entertained" for 30 mins..... then refuse to practice at home daily, then them and their parents wonder why they are not learning anything....Also if your piano ability is as bad as your grammar.....
You are so wrong! I HATED those silly songs like Camp Town Racers, among other ridiculous songs my piano teacher made me play. I didnt progress for almost 3 years. My mom found a new piano teacher. The piano teacher went more towards the classical. If you have students not progressing and refusing to practice they more than likely HATE the music your making them play. They are bored. (I dont understand what the person up top is saying either. Her grammar is horrible)
to greetings earthlings1 I hate those camp town racer american crap songs too, these as simply a tool to help beginners find their way round the keyboard, and clearly are a stepping stone, to real music. Most good teachers teach classical, some parents want the kids to learn classical but the kids don't want to. Saying you hate yor teacher is not wise - they may hate you too, and are within their rights to discontinue teaching you for a bad attitude........
I dont think you understood a single thing I said. I never said I hated my piano teacher. I find your innuendo insulting! Honestly if you cant understand the concept I am talking about you have no business teaching kids to play. A good piano teacher will find ways to engage the children and take the time to find their likes and dislikes. Just because you have a degree in music does not mean you understand psychology of a child. A uneducated fool hates correction, and uses words like "HELL."
To greetingsearthlings1 - I bought my own books and taught myself to read classical music notation from ages 4 to 11 actually (its not rocket science...), I proved myself 1st then my mum got me a teacher. Don't blame all teachers because you have no motivation.......No teacher can MAKE you do anything, you have to prove yourself 1st and do the work........if you are unable to play the simple beginner stuff then how the hell are you going to be able to play Mozart or Schubert?
My apologies. I didnt know I was talking to someone who has a perfected musical pallet for fine bands such as Hanna Montana. I assumed I was speaking to an adult. Have a good day!
I would also like to add that this child looks like a pre-schooler around 4 or 5. Most children this age have little or no musical ability so this is typical of kids his age. Personally I would not not opt to teach this child, but the point is, that this teacher is dedicated and really believes that all children can learn to play an instrument - which is like saying all children can learn to excel at gymnastics, or all children can learn to be competitive play chess and compete at it.!!!
She is an above-average excellent piano teacher. The child is very 'average'. Also at that age most average kids react like that. A talented switched on child would be able to actually play something on the piano by now lolxxx
Seriously? Prodigy? That kid is barely paying attention. Maybe the camera on him mad him nervous or something but this was really not that impressive. Sorry.
the kid is just thinking, "if i were only 20 years older". how can this poor kid focus with that shiny smile and beautiful voice next to him? i think he'll never learn ****
It doesnt matter if he is a prodigy or not. It's useful that you should make it seem like a game in order to draw their attention! Good job and nice voice for the teacher :) Thanx for the vid!

The misleading title annoys me, so I reply....
If you're going to entitle a video "Kindergarten Prodigy:....."
One might reasonably expect to see a young prodigy.
The child in this vid is no prodigy, he's barely interested, or is attention deficit, or sommet. He shows no musical aptitude whatsoever.
Also, a true musical prodigy would be bored to tears with this woman's "lesson".
This vid is crap and a waste of time.
