Thanks loads for sharing. Maybe Pete can't sing, but he's just as good as ever at getting the whole crowd singing. How many musicians can do that, or even want to?!?
I agree with rosey4skin above. Hi is making a joyful noise unto the Lord. He brought a smile to my face, and lifted my spirits, just watching this video.
I suspect not many know how much Pete and other folk artists have done to save this country and world through music. I know they have helped me educate my youngins (all five of them) and I can never hope to repay them (esp. Pete) for all their music has taught them.
Funny thing, Amazing Grace, (Precious Friend - not in the video), and Sailing Up/Sailing Down were the songs that the kids related to most.
Pete says he can't sing anymore, but it doesn't matter as long as he can get the audience to sing along with his banjo or guitar. I live in California now but if I were still an East Coaster, I would go to extreme lengths to see Pete and his grandson (and Arlo) perform. I would jump at an opportunity to tell him how deeply his music and never-changing convictions have touched my life. Pete Seeger's contribution will remain long after his time with us. GOD BLESS YOU, PETE SEEGER.
I cant believe how lucky these people were to be there !! I can also hear the music on other probably large stages..And he is here on this humble stage bigger than anybody...god I hope these people know his background and what he has done :)
I totally agree with your comment. I was not really aware of him until I watched a special about his life on KCET and I truly respect him. This "Pumpkin Festival" show is like having a living legend perform in your backyard.
right back at you :) same here....I saw some specials on him and thought my god what a man...yeah I knew the turn turn turn song...but wow he really cares deeply about human relations and bettering just about everything. Im so glad I have found him and better yet, he still is alive and kicking :)
There is some noise bleeding over from another stage I believe particularly noticeable at the beginning. Just stay focused like Pete, the extraneous noise just disappears.
I presumed it was from another stage, and I'm digging Pete, but I can't help feeling when some like that appears in person, a hush should descend on the land for miles around, plus I think Neil Young is a bit of a money grabbing hack
wow

This seems like it would be awesome. An intimate setting. And, how lucky is that kid that sat next to him on the stage? Anybody agree?

He can sing a lot better than a lot of people I know. It doesn't matter what your voice sounds like if it comes from the heart.

I doesn't matter if he can't sing anymore, in Gods ears, he sings like and Angel

I'd love to know what those words on his banjo say...

The words on Pete's banjo are "This machine surrounds hate and forces it to surrender" Pretty powerful stuff.

It's a pity that throughout this performance by such a legend, that you can hear a Neil Young recording so loudly in the background

How lucky are we to still have this guy around?
He'd hate to be called a National Treasure - but that's what he is!
Thanks for posting this amazing video.
