  • This song is really cool, the keyboards and accent contribute to the overall jazzy feeling, in a way.

  • Holy 70's, Batman!

  • sigh nvr ceases to rule

  • The only Japanese band I really like.

  • Well, if some band's vocalist growls for example, it doesn't really matter if the language is Japanese or English, because you can't understand anything either way (Because of the growling, obviously).

  • Somehow reminds me of one of those songs from Chowder

  • i just typed in sigh cause i was bored O.o

  • i like the proggy sound to this album, it feels 70's. I only own 2 sigh albums, this being 1 of them. It's got groove

  • don't like it

  • Is it just me or does that caucasian dude look like Krist Novoselic?

  • @dannygalaga Yeah I see it too. This song is kick ass, dunno wats being said but but thats caus i havnt seen the lyric sheet

  • I don't see any wrong with this song even though it not Black Metal.I think Sigh just wanna do something different for once.I think any black metal bands need to take a break from black metal music every now and then.Doom and Gloom.

  • This was their worst album. Listen to Imaginary Sonicscape if you want to hear their best work. Scenes from Hell is pretty good also.

  • Sigh never sounded like most of extreme metal bands, or maybe only in their demo days. Their very first album was already avant garde for the time.

  • reminds me of Kung Pow...

  • I youtube search Sigh and what do i get? A fucking awesome metal video, i love my random attitude.

  • This band shows exactly standards are for pussies!

  • Music transcends boundaries. Imperfect human minds - not so much.

  • Theyre good enough... Even euronymus signed them

  • I don't know what's so avant-garde about this song. Just oldschool keyboard driven hardrocker with japanese vocals... anyway, it's awesome.

  • @rationalitysucks It's not so much the song thats "avant-garde", but the decision the band made to write a song that sounds like this instead of sticking to their early black metal sound.

  • @deadpisser88 To be honest, I hated their early black sound. It sounded like any other generic terrible quality black metal band. I'm glad they changed for the best.

  • @Doodorz Naw, even their first two albums highlighted their own subtle sound. But I do like their mid-later stuff more than their early work.

  • @rationalitysucks This album isn't that avant-garde. It's more like old school Hard Rock/Prog Rock. Their albums are a different story though. Still this is awesome.

  • It's obviously still better than most music put out nowadays, but does anybody else think Sigh really fell off after the legendary Imaginary Sonicscape album?

  • @fffffcccckkkk Slightly, I admit. Granted, I'm not against them driving back to their extreme metal sound, and nor do I think they have forgotten their weird quirks, either... at least not yet, anyway.

  • Two words:

    EP-IC

  • Japanese metal sucks?

    Those who claim this suck.

Japanese have great metal and punk bands. What's more, Japanese bands don't become retarded after 10 or so years like EU bands.

  • @koisumaz2000 : If people STILL think Japanese Metal sucks, you can refer them to the band "Galneryus" they're another Japanese Metal band. I think they're Melodic Power metal. If that doesn't silence people who claim that Japanese Metal sucks, I don't know what will.

  • its not fucking japenese metal, its avante-garde metal, god...

  • @randomactsok yeah totally avant-garde

  • Comment removed

  • Metal masters? lmao..

  • Sigh is the best japanese band ever!! FUCK X JAPAN!!

  • GOOK-METAL.

  • @badnews2008ad I giggled, won't lie.

  • The thing about Sigh, is that 1/3rd of what they do is realy good, 1/3rd is incredibly boring, and 1/3rd is just silly.

  • hmm i can't tell who's worse these faggots or slipknot

  • @gilder37 slipknot sucks ass nowadayhs! two first albums were great before they sold their souls to mainstreamdevil!!

  • Forever changing their style.... which I like.

  • It's like a Japanese deep purple

  • I like accents tho.. lol..

  • strange song...

great band.... anyhow i rather more extreme

  • oh god i just got into sigh. they are truly master of avant-garde metal!

  • sound like psychedelic metal

  • this must be the strangest metal i have EVER heard. im not saying its bad though, this has a catchy tune. very interesting.

  • very Cathedral influenced

  • \m/

  • Sigh, get your ass down to Australia and play us a few gigs.Doom and Gloom.

  • you really see that they got into stoner music with this :D the drummer is evne wearing a Bongzilla shirt!

  • also reminds me of Church of misery

  • agreed

  • I hate how people keep on saying that japanese metal sucks... yes, a lot of times when a japanese person sings in english, it's hard to understand because of the accent, but if an english speaker tried to sing in japanese it would sound much the same to them. If that's the part you don't like, then listen to bands that either sing in japanese or that sing with heavy enough vocals that you can't hear the accent!!!! problem solved.

  • @CrazyMetalMachine I agree 100% people judge too fast and too harshly before realizing their own faults.

  • I don't usually listen lyrics in songs so can't see why you must know them to like the music.

  • @CrazyMetalMachine yep, I like the accent and "flaws" usually make band more unique and they deliver something different than the usual one strict genre bands.

  • @CrazyMetalMachine

I dont even think it's that, the whole j-metal thing is fucking unbearably poppy and glammed up. Sigh is different they are actually talented

  • @CrazyMetalMachine That's retarded. Japanese metal doesn't suck because it's Japanese, it sucks because it sucks.

  • @allhailpantera123 Stupidest comment ever. That's like saying all people from India can't play metal

  • @Bovokk What you're suggesting my directive is is completely irrelevant. Read my comment again. It says that bands from japan don't duck because they're from japan. A lot of bands from Japan just suck. It's not because of where they're from that I say this.

  • @allhailpantera123 Every country in the world has bands that suck. Bands in Europe and America get the most exposure so it's impossible to get the same access to music from places outside those regions. I couldn't even name one single band of any genre from India, China, Russia etc.

  • @Bovokk Well obviously. What I'm saying is I've never heard a Japanese band that I liked. And I'm sure I've heard quite a few of them.

  • @CrazyMetalMachine I know plenty of japanese bands that sing in japanese but it still sounds band cuz its off key and doesn't fit the music. mostly visual kei bands like versailles. in my opinion japanese vocals best fit pop music.. not metal. Sex machine guns are the only metal band thats vocals i don't mind that much. Sigh is alright too. but those visual kei bands are really nasaly.

  • @MysticDemonKnight you need to get your head out of your ass and smell the fresh air. Kamijo is an amazing vocalist, and the Majority of Japanese bands have vocals that are at least ten time more metal than most of the crap that gets called metal

  • @CrazyMetalMachine I don't need to get my head out of anywhere, because its right where it needs to be. Go ahead an like visual kei if thats what you want. And i can say visual kei sucks cuz its my opinion just like you have yours. They should focus more on music and not their make-up. So you can go fuck yourself you ignorent cunt fanboy..

  • @CrazyMetalMachine Japanese people don't know how to suck generally speaking. They bleed competence.

  • @CrazyMetalMachine If would english speaker tried to sing japanese it would sound worse.

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha. I must say I shall downthumb this comment...However, it was pretty fucking funny so I shall give it a thumbs up. Therefore...it gets left alone.

  • lol this song is catchy and funny, i like it. Still i prefer their Black Metal/Avantgarde style

  • cool.

  • Sigh is great Avantegarde.

  • No cannot be black!

  • Not bad, but I prefer their Hail Horror Hail era..

  • Terrible tune to make a video for. Sigh is actually an amazing band - for all you that posted and don't know...

  • Sigh never really sticks with a single style for any album, which is great.

  • @Relastas Like Buckethead Does.

  • mmmm, catchy song, definitely out of the metal realm, hehehehe (that is not necessary bad, clarifying)

  • what the flying fuck are you talking about?

  • more like jazz :D

  • B b b b b bl bl bla black metal??

  • i'm as confused as you are

  • this isn;t as much black metal as a lot of the other stuff.

    but damn is it sexy.

  • how bizarre, this is certainly far from their original sound and their current sound

  • I like it though.

  • WTF?

It's almost got a ragtime feel to it...

This is the third song I've listen to from this band.

    VERY IMPRESSED!

  • damn funky

  • Best metal band ever.

  • ooo..XDXD ;0

  • This is cool.

  • lol...that is groovy X)

  • AWESOME !

  • LOL why is this under the videos i might like?

  • La musique est vraiment bonne mais pas le son de la voix faut que sa rock plus que sa !

  • gallows gallery is a damn good album and midnight sun is catchy as shit. deal with it

  • Ehh...wouldnt it be just ...sad if they would be like all the other bands?

They are unique damnit so deal with it!!!!!

  • Thats kinda mean :S

  • Sigh is progressive so they do wtf they want >:(

  • no the fuck there not, they are Avant-Garde, progressive and avant garde is not the same thing. Progressive is a constant change in sound with also different enfluences. Avant-Gare means to be artistic with the music

  • Ok sorry my bad!

  • Dude chill. It's pretty much the same damn thing.

  • Dude no there not the same thing, Progressive just changes sound, Progressive bands dont sound the same in every album. But with Avant-Garde it means to be artistic and to explore new sounds, but still keep a constamt sound

  • so.. the same thing

  • and again no its not...... ur an arrogant douche bag..... im done with this because people are stupid and cant realize the differences....

  • woo sah

  • excuse me your the arrogant douchebag around here, caging bands into the limits of their "genre" btw avant-garde bands dont normally care about how they keep " a constant sound" one can be artistic and have constant chnages in the song

  • You can do both.

    ...Really.

  • the word progressive works if he wasn't making reference to the ACTUAL prog metal scene. avant-garde is progressive because it doesn't walk in the footsteps of others. i like avant-garde artists like mike patton and some of the crazy, out there, stuff by john zorn. so this is quite far from that, but still no need to nitpick. Not many people can tell the difference between bounce metal, prog metal, melodic death metal, groove metal, etc... even though it seems so obvious to me.

  • people have that trouble because there's so much room for crossing over genres, especially in the broader and more adventurous genres such as avant-garde and prog.

there was something on wikipedia which summed up the difference between prog and avant-garde pretty well:

The experimentation of progressive metal lies mostly in playing complex rhythms and song structures with traditional instruments. For avant-garde metal, most of the experimentation is in the use of unusual sounds and instruments.

  • (sorry double post)

    cont.

"...Progressive metal also puts a greater emphasis on technicality and theoretical complexity (e.g. odd time signatures, complex song forms, jazz fusion influences), while avant-garde metal is more unorthodox and tends to question many of the musical conventions. Some avant-garde bands can be minimalistic in their music which is completely opposed to progressive metal's emphasis on complexity."

i thought that last bit summed up a BIG overlooked difference too.

  • well said, but unless you have a music education (which is almost non-existent in the usa) i doubt most people would understand.

not to be condescending, but as a citizen of the USA and as someone who watched the disappearance of music as part of the basic educational curriculum, and the inverse correlation between that and the emergence of simplistic break-beat/bass driven with minimal leads as the main popular music. i cant help but blame a lack of education for the reason people dont get it.

  • i never realised this concept, given i'm a citizen of the UK. i actually went to one of the worst schools for music and wasn't allowed to do it at higher education because they simply didn't offer it, but i did my own work. never the less, what i DID learn was of valuable importance to me because i made the most out of it - a lot of people in my classes when they existed didn't.

at least there are the avant-garde elite who appreciate this music and what it really is?

  • Bounce metal?

No such thing, or at least no such thing recognized by any reputable source on metal.

  • its his voice got damm

  • i hate this song but extrimley love him WTF

  • Why hate? :(

I think that most of band would have the guts to make a song half metal half jazz style

  • u right imeant thet in the begining i hate the song but llloooovvveeeddddd it (love)

  • Yaaaaaaarghhh now thats a mood!

We all gotta rock till we still can!

  • Nice Hammond!

    Sigh fucking rules.

  • I prefer his rock music TBH. Sighs such a diverse genius of a guy I dont think he should limit himself just to death.

  • i pefer sigh's more black metal music

  • This song is amazing!

  • Sicher, dass das kein Blues is?^^

was für ne frechheit, sowas als blackmetal zu bezeichnen

  • "Gallows gallery" ist auch eher'n experimental Album von Sigh, das eher aus der Reihe tanzt.

  • Sigh rules. Nuff said.

  • you dont know fucking shit "there black metal years" you dont even know shit about them. have you even heard hh? yea i thought so stfu scenester

  • It's very nice

  • The term "mindfuck" would be a understatement here.

  • Been listening to Sigh since they were "Japan's answer to Emperor". Love it all.

  • the more i hear Gallows gallery songs, the more i want to buy it. Great, original (as always) psychadelic brilliance. This is great. Nice to hear him singing totally differently for a change

  • Trippy, Not as good as there other stuff.

  • Wow, this one sounds like a crazy '70s songs. An interesting band indeed

  • this needs an appearance by mekannibal.

  • it is black metal...its also experimental on this album, go listen to Inoitrus/Kyrie or Inked In Blood and then report back.

anything off the Album 'Hangmans Hymn' is more black metal, but is still considered 'avant-garde' at the same time, cos of the uniquety

  • LOL hahahahahah youre name is slipknot4life. does it get anymore mallcore? stfu you now nothign about metal you just listen to a watered down prodect made on an assembly line by a few record execs.

  • This japanese band is awesome but this song lol

Omg sounds a little bit of Devin Townsend Bad Devil, awesome

  • This song sounds so.... happy.

I don't know... is it just me?

  • I like their older stuff a lot better.

  • I love this album, it's so different to the usual Sigh sound (although I know they always push it). I do however prefer Hangmans Hymn and how bloody aggressive and insane it is ^^

  • Saw SIGH 2-3 weeks ago L.A. Fucking Cool.

  • SOUNDS LIKE THE B-52S! LOL

  • i hope they come to connecticut...jmetal is one of my favorite jrock styles

  • leave it to the japanese to take it to the next level lol.

  • Saw these sicko's last night in chicago. Fucking awesome.

  • Me too man. They kicked all kinds of ass. Fucking awesome they covered "Black Metal" as an encore and started with Introitus/Kyrie. Fucking awesome show!

  • also Sigh's inspiration actually comes from the 1 of the originators of BM, Venom! Look at how much venom covers they hav done! Sigh is no poser band.. they've been usin keyboards way before most BM bands. 5th. Sigh is Better than Dimmu. 6th. Sigh most black metal albums are Infidel art and scorn defeat. Hail Horror is partly avant-garde.7th Sigh is the best avantgarde band out there.8th English metal is gay(Cradle)..Sigh is not. i could go on... again i say to the uneducated, SIGH IS THA SHIT!

  • I totally agree with you..with one exception - I doubt that Sigh is avant-garde band. Some of their stuff is kinda experimental (thats why they are better than most of black metal bands, they do not afraid to try new things), but not avant-garde. Avant-garde is mainly modern classical music.

  • I'd have to disagree. 'Avant-garde' spreads across a VERY broad selection of genres. :P

  • Well, what´s the difference between experimental and avant-garde music then?

  • I would just regard them as Experimental Metal. Avant-Garde Black Metal is more like Summoning for example. Anything by John Zorn.

  • i dont think avant garde has anything to do with classical, it would be contradictory -.-, i think free style is more appropiated

  • Why it should be a contradiction? In more I dont dont about classical musical in ussuall sense. John Cage is modern classical music, but for ussual listener of classical music it doesnt sound classical at all. Its true that avantgarde is kinda free style, but it should push music somewhere,it should be something new, breaking some barriers in music (for example modern avantgard was when ppl started to make electronic music, thats real avantgarde)in this point of view Sigh is not avantgarde at all

  • i wasn't refering to sigh as an avantgarde because i discovered them today and i havent heard enough yet..

what i tried to say is that avantgarde cant be a "modern + something that has been done", you have to innovate in harmony melody sound or whatever.

yes and i think John cage was avantgarde not modern classical. classical had a lot of unbreakable rules i think.

  • How sad, so many idiots out here... 1st of all Sigh is an avant garde Black metal band.. which immediatley suggests that they try different things... 2nd, this album isnt black metal its just damn good classic metal similar to 80's metal. 3rd Sigh doesn't give a fuck wat BM fanboys think. if u all love satan so much go suck his dick. 4th. If all Black Metal sounded the same.. wouldn't THAT suck? stop rippin on bands that choose originality over follwin the crowd (BM FANBOYS)SIGH IS THE SHIT!

  • Sigh is the shit.

Can't wait to see them live soon ^^

    Later

  • lol, i see them tusday

  • sigh are the greatest at their heaviest and their most experimental: ALWAYS!!!! to mitsuraga's statement, too bad for you.

  • I miss the Black Metal Sigh.

  • ???

don't you know their latest album - hangman's hymn? ain't that black metal enough for you?

  • Sigh is my favorite band, mostly because it's one of the most original bands I know.

  • Great track but i dont get it, is this a cover? Why no brutal vocals?

  • Switched styles again with their album "Gallows Gallery" and decided to do an all clean album. Not to bad in my opinion, I do prefer their screams still due atmosphere, but this also has a nice touch.

  • thanks for the info,

  • they did that on purpose! they are an experimental band dude! i love it cause the album sounds similar to a king diamond album!(listen to the whole album) Greatest Metal Act out of Japan! also they didnt quit being brutal...d next album is brutal (hangman Hymn)

  • yeah man i totally agree. I respect that because at least they're always switching up their music instead of playing the same redundant shit like some black metal bands. Hangman's Hymn....all i gotta say is..masterpiece. I also saw them last night, and they killed. FUCK YEAH.

  • great song!

  • The remastered version is a bit disappointing. The production is improved, but they cut some of the vocals (namely from In a Drowse), and the intro on Confessions to be Buried has been completely removed. The bonus tracks are nothing spectacular. I really enjoyed this album, but the remaster isn't necessary if you already own it.

  • Yes and I prefer the desert color cover to the blue one.
