I'm in agreement. I worked at a CBS o&o in miami and we had some great graphics (even though our news was too tabloid trash but besides the point.) Now it's all the same from Miami to Dallas to LA. Sameness. Sorry not into it!
here in Brazil (a country bigger in area than the continental US and with 60% of the US population), stations, most of the time, regardless of who owns them, use network graphics for their local newscasts.
WGRZ got those graphics and they do look a little better than the old stuff they had. Image News instead of the Gannett News theme for the opens was way better though.
the open's decent - but I still don't like that LOCAL TV stations, which are supposed to reflect the communities they serve, are homogenized like this into a "corporate" look or sound. I've never been into "sameness" for the sake of fitting a corporate "look and feel". Gannett's going the way of Fox, Media General, Belo, Sinclair, and Hearst down this path.
Trust me, American stations have a MUCH more local feel than most Canadian stations. All the CTV O&Os having newscasts all called CTV News (as if it was a network newscast), same graphics, and sometimes even the same studios.
and here in Brazil, most Globo (#1 network) stations have the same look for their local news, O&O or affiliates. while Record (who wants to become #1) recently imposed to its stations, O&O or affiliates, the same local news package. and many O&O stations are switching to newsroom-based sets, while the flagship, in São Paulo, only uses the newsroom for the network newscasts.

I agree 100% WKYC always has the best graphics but this music absolutely blows.

Agreed. This theme song is just...whatever. In fact, I think it fits perfectly with the trend--a homogenized song for a homogenized news operation.

I agree with you 100%! To me a television station are like people! You have to have your own idenitity! Gannett's look is riped from Media General!
