  • Why are you saying "Religion" instead of "Strong Decentralisation"?

  • Im a proud Westerner! Im a proud European!

  • "Alternating current king, Thomas Edison"??? (~6m30s)

C'mon, Niall! One of the best known facets of Edison's career was his long PR battle with Tesla over the relative merits of A/C vs. D/C electricity. It was Tesla, not Edison, who favored A/C power, and ultimately he won.

  • Fake Confucianism = The bloodiest and most corrupt nation in the world + Fake patriotism + Neo-capital-slavery + Poisonous food (including baby-formula).

  • wtf, our work ethic comes from Confucianism, not your silly religion!

  • at 20:10 So, atheists can't have optimism because they're lives haven't been "touched by God"????? What a bullshit explanation to Ferguson's question.

  • @gorwell97 Atheists slowly drift into the strength of nihlism - Even niche couldn't handle that much power. 90% of athesits fall into destruction with nihilism. Learn to use it, you will be invincible, because you will know will is everything, and will is manufactured within you.

  • I find the last point to be incorrect. Certainly there was a past work ethic that focused on thrift and savings, but this was not unique to the west, nor is it related to christianity. I will go further to state the obvious, and that is christian dogma has always been a threat to the positive advancement of western science and morality. At least he briefly mentions the main threat to the west, the replacement of capitalism with pure inflation.

  • Crazy Conclusion :) The underlying idea of this Documentary will make everyone understand what is going to be the reason for the end of the west :)

  • Fundamental flaw of what he says in the end is that he feels Western 'killer aps' fits the culture of all peoples which is a major factor to miss out. That is at the centre of development of civilisations. The edge other countries have is being able to realise they were not the best before but now they are willing to learn from EVERYWHERE whereas Niall presents it as if the world hasn't changed and that it isn't beneficial to learn from others, just the West.....

  • It is actually ridiculous that he is linking Chinese economic success with the Protestant work ethic. That is simply a lie. The fact is the Chinese work ethic comes from 1. the poverty that they went through for two centuries, 2. nationalism in the sense of the re-emergence and most importantly of all 3. the CONFUCIAN TRADITIONAL WORK ETHIC. It was becos of this ethic that Western countries like Aussie and USA implemented restrictive anti-chinese immigration policy so they didn't have to compete

  • Yeah forget about the Co2 emissions and believe in Santa Clause!

  • Capitalism builts on self needs and individualism

  • This series disappoints because it preaches to choir. It's another example of "respected" institutions like Oxford, Harvard, PBS become trailer parks. When [pseudo-]intellectuals start becoming popular and monetizing everything that spills out of their mouths, knowledge stops being critically-examined. Narrow thinking will always be narrow thinking. Even with a sophisticated accent, professional film crew and tight soundtrack, well-presented narrow conceited thinking is still narrow thinking.

  • at almost 6 hours his central thesis is: The west rules and the rest drools! This guy teaches at Harvard? Muahahaha.

  • Very interesting enjoyable series
