In the age of "the long tail" phenomenon, she can be a celebrity with or without any label at all AND she gets to keep her songs AND she gets control of what she produces. I would love to own CDs by her and her husband and his brothers, but they already have such a following that a major label might just cause them to fly too high and therefore fall too quickly.
