  • I have watch my favourite movies in HQ in HQ FREE at realmovies4free(dot)com

  • Great job man. You say you tracked the face on a rigid head. Could you elaborate a bit on that point? Did you use 3d tracking to matchmove a CG Jet Li head?

  • Hi Jake thanks...

I used a non-deforming head to track the head in the shot of JetLi. I used DD's inhouse tracking software but there are commercial packages out there that can get you that result as well. The track was in the end around 95% accurate, and the final pops and slides I corrected in NUKE by QC-ing it in stabelized 2D UV space.

  • Thanks for the reply.

So did you hand animate the non-deforming head to the face, or did you use DD's tracker to get the 3d info or a combination of the two? Sorry for the 20 questions, but I would like to try to replicate this technique.

  • No worries :) No it wasnt hand tracking I used the geo of the head to track it in with tracking software. And manually adjusted some pops here and there. They 3d head and chan file were then imported into NUKE. And that was used to project the plate on. And then from there it got layed out in the ScanlineRender in UV mode.

  • Cool. Great technique.

  • i see that you are using mac. Do you use mac for all of your 3d work? I'm getting ready to start school for animation and it seems that alot of the apps we are gonna be learning on ( Maya) is windows. I have a mac now, should i keep my mac and run boot camp? thanks for the help, jeff

  • Mac was used for the demo... but all visual effects related software packages are mostly platform independent. So it shouldnt matter. It is always smart to have multiple os/platforms available tho (like bootcamp). We dont use mac or windows, instead our pipeline is linux based.

  • That is top!

    Shock and Awe!
