If this car is cheaper than Honda and Scion , I would buy as a fun car to drive and good on gas. I wouldn't spend the extra money though for the upgrades. It is just one of those car where you want to go el cheapo though it doesn't look cheap.

There's no reason a 1.4 cant get up to 45mpg. My scion xb first gen disapoints in fuel as well even driven slow. Heck my 80's beemer got 35

scion xb and kia soul is still designed more like a mini wagon than a mini/micro suv

I'm sorry the cube was invented before the 90's, but just didn't bring it beyond coast of the rising sun so it's not the latest car with a cube...

I would have chosen the previous generation Cube(Z11) over the new Cube(Z12). It's the original of the Cubism designs and many Jap auto-makers have copied but failed to capture the overall quirky design of Nissan's Cube. Closest match is the much smaller 660cc Suzuki Lapin. Not all square and boxy cars suceeded, not even Nissan's other boxy car, Lafesta did it.

Nissan introduced the cube first in Japan - before Honda and Toyota (under the Scion brand) followed. They should have introduced it in the US first. It's odd to see people compare this to the Toyota (Scion) xB, which is actually a copycat vehicle

As far as existence, 1st it was the Cube(available in Japan only back in '98) and then everyone(car makers)followed.
