Either way, you just don't argue with a judge. You actually aren't even supposed to directly talk to them at all.

I loved doing this class in 4h. My horse was a western pleasure horse with the smoothest gaits so we always came out on top. Try curving your body inward when you do it, tends to help. and never take your butt off the saddle...the one time you lift your butt will be the time the egg lands where you sit....terrible mess

At my barn we did the egg and spoon thing it was so much fun!! Until you have to trot, then you have to canter, haha everyone lost theirs after like two strides

Also I think it was wrong to praise the judge on what she did--this is freakin' egg and spoon, not really the end of the world!!! it's a game!!!

if u go in ur half seat and trot it makes it easier to balance the egg. never post or sit. my sister won 1st place in her group doing that. so the girl was arguing with the judge just cuz she couldnt use her right hand? just switch the hand, shut up and ride.

It seems like a very odd rule, especially since it's taking the reins out of the traditional "rein hand" and using that hand for the "job" at hand - while nearly all "real" sports have you do the exact opposite, but hopefully the girl learned a lesson about arguing in the wrong place at the wrong time over something that isn't worth it...
i do have to say though... the judge should not have told them what hand to use cause right then and there it gives ppl an advantage or a disadvantage and its not fair

The judge doesn't have to 'accept' anything; perhaps if this bitch had done as she'd been told and apologized after, the situation would have been different.
Psst, if you ever do this class again, try posting the trot (assuming you're allowed, and we always were when we used to do this class)...you won't bounce and you're less likely to drop it :). Or just stand in your stirrups/two point. Much easier!

It seems like a very odd rule, especially since it's taking the reins out of the traditional "rein hand" and using that hand for the "job" at hand - while nearly all "real" sports have you do the exact opposite, but hopefully the girl learned a lesson about arguing in the wrong place at the wrong time over something that isn't worth it...

@pinksparkles162 No. She refused to leave the ring and argued with the judge- a LOT. She apologized NOT because she was sorry but because she wanted to get her way. The judge doesn't have to 'accept' anything; perhaps if this bitch had done as she'd been told and apologized after, the situation would have been different.

Psst, if you ever do this class again, try posting the trot (assuming you're allowed, and we always were when we used to do this class)...you won't bounce and you're less likely to drop it :). Or just stand in your stirrups/two point. Much easier!
