nope that actually took place about 1978 onwards, had he stopped boxing then, he wouldn't have developed it as seriously as he does now.

his doctor said so in an interview when he developed it, the one who got fired did, he said he couldn't believe that the new doctor the Ali camp got, just had him touch his nose, and gave him a clean bill of health, he thought it was fucking ridiculous.

Ali had a significant reach advantage over Frazier. Frazier was able to touch him. You'll recall Frazier hurt Ali in their first meeting, which Frazier won. I think Tyson was faster and hard hitting than Frazier and at his prime had better defense, though hardly anyone applied pressure like Smokin' Joe.

Ali was such a star he got caught up in it. Once he won his title back from Foreman you rarely saw him in top shape for a fight. Rarely saw him under 220lbs even though his best fighting weight was around 210-215. I know age makes a little difference in how much weight a guy carries naturally. But you'd often see him a little loose in the mid section. Except against Norton. He knew he had to be ready against Norton. After that, even though he fought his heart out, wasn't always in top shape.

Wepner was such a dirty fighter. He rabbit punched Ali all night. Rabbit punches land specifically on the brain stem and are illegal in boxing. Parkinsons is caused by dammage to the brain stem. I don't agree that Chuck is the main cause of Ali's condition. Though Chuck hit him quite a bit with rabbit punches the truth is Ali's own chin may well be the reason he is the way he is today. The man could NOT be knocked out and in Ernie Shavers he took some of the best shots from a man that many consider the be the single hardest puncher in heavyweight history. Not to mention Foreman, Frazier LISTON, Norton, Bonavena. Ali took a lot of punishment and though he was never KOd, it took it's toll

I know that once it is tto late to block or duck out of the way of the punch your only option is to move with it. I think thats why if you watch him get knocked down with what looked like very hard shots he would get right back up. He would move his head with the punch resisting as little as possible. This is the only reason i can think of that he didnt get cut. He had very good fighting instincts and reflexes even while taking punishment.

well you're exactly right about that. He does have a scar on one brow, indicating a cut. Probably in the gym at some point. And in the secong Frazier fight their was a barely noticeable slice on his cheek. But other than that no one ever cut him up. Who knows for sure. But it has been linked to several boxers at young ages. And early on Ali was not diagnosed with Parkinsons. He was diagnosed with Parkinson Syndrome, a disease that MIMICS Parkinsons. Only in last few years did he actually develop Parkinsons. Considering the incredible chin Ali had it's highly likely he suffered brain stem trauma which can cause Parkinsons. Nobody in heavyweight history could take a shot like Ali and he fought some of the hardest punchers in history.

One of the great pities about his condition is that it has robbed the world of his voice, at a time when with his maturity and experience it needs to hear it most. Sure, he does good now at various functions, but he's really more of a figurehead rather than an active participant.
