I recently bought a Flip Ultra HD camera and recorded a video with it. I edited it with iMovie '09. I was wondering if you have to do anything special to it for it to become HD on YouTube or does it just take a while for Youtube to recognize it as HD. Thank you so much.

Hi Perry,

It only records in color. I did a very fast b&w conversion in iMovie '08, but I would assume that the packed in editing software will allow you to convert to black and white as well.

amazing video, I just ordered my flip today and I am very excited about this little toy now.

But the funny thing is that my tripod costed 200 euros, and the flip is cheaper :)))

I used a large Bogen pro-photography tripod for this - total overkill but its the only kind of tripod I have.

Any kind of tripod that you can get cheaply at Best Buy will work.

make sure ur video is in 1280 x 720 and upload from Youtube website, not from FLipShare

The video quality looks great. How is the audio. Is it as tinny as the Mino audio is?

I'm not familiar with the Mino HD, but the audio is ok on this - nothing spectacular, most of the stuff I'll be doing won't really include native audio on it, but it seems ok.

One big negative is the digital zoom on this camera. Looks bad. In the video up above, I zoomed in when recording the man and the dog at the lake, and the geese at the end. Just looks like bad digital zoom. This is pretty much a stationary camera, and if I need to zoom I should look into a telephoto screw-on lens.
