Its sounding like G#, but could just be G or A if there is something off on the recording or possible outside temp issue. (Capo 1, G-C-D if you want to strum along...)
@nnemoyer I believe that it is G# - that is the key my family's group does it in and we tried to copy these boys. That's what it sounds like. I don't know if anyone here has posted the story of this song, but it was written by Tim's wife's aunt as her own eulogy. Tim put it to music and here it is! It is a beautiful song and we get a great reaction whenever we perform it.
my dads best friend sang this at his funeral after we lost him in a car accident at age 70,,,, i'm 33 and can't remember a day my mom didn't pray for all of us,,,, cry every time i hear it
It's Someday, and I love it! I saw them at the Bluegrass Festival in Wilmington Ohio with Doyle Lawson Quicksilver, and Rhonda Vincent.. etc.. they were all wonderful!
I can not wait to see them in 3 weeks in Grass Valley.. A true treat for us as we out here in California do not get to see talent like this very often.. I can not wait to here them play "I would rather be a Lonesome Pine" from the midnight storm album. That is my all time fav of theirs.
it was written by one of their family members before she died, she told everyone to leave the room and bring her a piece of paper. when they returned she had written these words and only after she passed did they put the harmony to it and tweaked ti a little. i work with some of these guys family members and shawn lanes dad worked with my dad their whole family can sing beautifully
Tim Stafford's (the guitar player) wife's Aunt Olive Stockton wrote the song as part of her own eulogy, as described. I don't think she ever would have imagined what those words would become and how many people they would affect.
That song was played at my bestfriend's funeral. The first time I heard it I was on a road trip with Collin befor he died. It gave me the chills. Very very few songs have ever done that to me. This song is absoultly amazing.
