  • Tail is also too broad

  • The wing tips, tail, and head are NOT of an owl. Those are colored feathers, not sonar disks around its eyes.

Larger owls have ear tufts, only tyto and athene have smooth heads, and are much smaller than this bird anyway.

The striped tail is dead hawk giveaway.....

  • nice buts its an owl

  • nicee buts its an owl

  • Its a Hawk. Betting my life on that. A Harrier. No doubt. One killed my Dachshund 2 yrs ago. Lifted him like 20 ft. in the air and dropped him.

  • Harriers are ground nesting hawks. They resemble owls because they have facial discs like owls, allowing them to locate prey the way owls do, by hearing. Next time a bird does this to you, please don't film it, just walk carefully out of there. And they sometimes nest in groups, so don't think that just because you've avoided one nest that there are no others.

  • looks to me like a goshawk

  • Thank you for sharing. We rarely get up close and personal as you did without some kind of destruction. Great control of your camera. I would have been shaking with excitement.

  • @Goldenspider2004 Thank you, I must say it was pretty exciting to live.

  • @cricket1st thank you, by the way it's a she, the harrier hawk male looks very different as you may see on this video "Hawk Attack :19"

  • @cricket1st thank you, and I was ready to flee.

  • I spotted one here recently perched in a tree overlooking a field of newborn lambs. At first i thought it was a buzzard, but when it took off, I could see the fingering on the wing tips and fanning of the tail were very different, and the colouring also. Apparently they are recovering here in Ireland, and some pairs along the Antrim coast have been known to nest in trees - unheard of anywhere else in its range, as they are usually a ground-nesting bird.

  • @ThePotstillbill "nest in trees" ? you sure ?

  • @toutmuche Apparently so. It's the only place in the world it has been documented. I'll see if I can find the reference for you.

  • @toutmucheIf you check out the habitas.org website under priority species in Northern Ireland, it should tell you more. :)

  • great capture!

  • @driewe thank you

  • I thought it was a owl till i fewed some rude comments TheFalconryFan

  • o wow , i wonder how can birds live without hands :S

  • @dubworldo They wonder how we can live without wings.

  • the look in its eyes...wow

  • i would be scared

  • Man! She was PISSED OFF! I had thought it might be an owl as well at first pass,..but the eyes and suggestion of an elongated beak give it away. May be a bit from both types(I'm not an ornithologist),..

  • Wonderful video. That was one upset bird! But I really enjoyed getting to see such a bird coming head on like that, and slowing it down was great, you can really see the wings working.

  • @fractaldragon thank you.

  • must have been close to the HAWKS nest

  • wow dats an owl

  • Hen harriers is Europe right? I thought so. Because bussards and hawks have a differend face.

  • @JackyNickelson Yes, aka Northern Harrier and Harrier Hawk in America.

  • its not an owl but a hen harrier - their faces look similar

  • @guystoners thank you.

  • they split the hen harrier and the northern harrier into seperate species (circus cyaneus and circus hudsonicus)

  • @agricola thank you, my mistake.

  • That's a cooper hawk...

  • I think its an Owl, though.

  • @jmdavis5 thak you for your comment, but it's not an owl.

  • wow. you're dumb. not an owl. look at its head reject.

  • @jmdavis5 its not an owl harrier hawks have the face a bit of an owl but its not an owl

  • @jmdavis5 lol how did this comment get 15 thumbs up it looks nothing like an owl i mean even if all u could see was its tail you would know its not an owl

  • I would kill to catch a scene like this with my camera. Awesome!

  • @HelloThar9 thank you, been lucky.

  • dude... its really really bad when mother natures animals don't like you. sorry for you

  • a crow pooped on my back at football practice...

  • sorry, i did not want to be inpolite, i am not a specialist for birds.

It Looks like an owl would have been correct.

  • 0:28 priceless face

  • actually with the large forward facing eyes, flat face and, short beak, that looked more like an owl.

  • it´s not a hawk, it´s an owl.

  • @Eisbaer7512 it seems to be great fun saying its an owl, but it's not ; it's a harrier hawk, aka hen harrier.

  • This means to stay away from it's nest.

  • @motorbreath1983 thank you, so I did as I keep saying.

  • Oh wow! I once got dive bombed by a cooper's hawk. It was awesome!

  • @MinaKittyFreedaZoe thank you, nice bird too.

  • man i just got attack by either an hawk or a mississippi kite like two hours ago! it knocked me off my bike! it actually left scratches on my head!

  • @asyourfallingdown300 HA!! it was me!! SUPERMAN!!

  • About an hour ago we saw a hawk in our back yard in Lawndale, California!! I believe it was a baby, possibly someones former "pet"??? Anyway, I've been on the internet trying to find one that looked like it and this is the one. My grandson said it looked like an owl, I said very possibly because they have that bloody fantastical eyesight? It "chirped" like this one! Thanks for posting.

  • @edb081904 Great ! You can this one'offspring in some of my videos on youtube.

    Thanks for your feedback

  • he or she is aggressice because you "attacked" there area

  • thats an owl....

  • toutmuche-What happened to the one it attacked?

  • @coldfreshwater nothing, she dodged at the very last moment.

  • Awesome!!!

  • @bridgesr2 thank you

  • Henry-Its attacking the one holding the camera

  • @coldfreshwater true

  • Hawk or owl, I've seen their claws close up (wild life rehab center) and both are razor sharp. I would run, duck and cover big time if a hawk or owl came at me. Their claws will go right through your skin.

  • im wonering...what in the world is it attacking?!nothing?

  • its a owl

  • Amazing!

  • @genrolecaspe than you

  • that is owl not a hawk

  • @MultiKnight007 Thank you so much for sharing with the youtube community your sharp wildlife knowledge.

  • @toutmuche lol agreed

  • @MultiKnight007 its a hawk not an owl. u can difine it from the form of its wings spand and shape. most owl have little feathers from its legs to their talons. besides owls are Nocturnal birds. if im not mistaken i think is an jevenile red tail hawk.

  • @davejued ooo man thanks for reply .. it is owl because owl's face width is more then hawk.i have 1 bald eagle n baby brown.i challege u it is owl.not a hawk according to wing its wings are shorter in length .

  • @MultiKnight007 its acutally harris hawk. not owl. owl comes out at night time like i mentioned owls are nocturnal birds. the reason u sees it look like an owl because he took it from the front view which makes it's face looks flat (owl have flat face).

  • @MultiKnight007 no its obviously a seagull

  • wtf hawk attack. its an owl

  • @funnybastard121

    no its obviously a seagull

  • das a goddamn owl u meat head

  • that is one great bird, stunning!

  • @foxy358 thanks

  • harrier hawk, tho it has appearance of owl, nice vid, i think you were in its territory

  • yes, thanks.

  • owl!

  • this so called "eagle" is an owl you assholes goddont you have a life.

  • alinahyena95, you're retarded. It's a Hen Harrier (also called the Northern Harrier in North America) which is a Hawk. It looks like an Owl, but isn't one. Dumbass.

  • @TheFalconryFan Yep, you can tell by it's white rump as it is flying away from you.

  • @alinahyena95

Owl has rounder head than the hawk.

Its a harrier hawk. Get over it.

  • C'est un épervier.

  • this would be stunning with a high speed camera

    great film.

  • thank you.

  • It's a Hawk, Owls have different beaks and have more feathers which makes them look big.

  • Its a hen harrier

  • yes, you right, aka harrier hawk and it's a scientific fact.

  • It is an owl, No doubt look at its eyes, deffently an owl

  • It's not. It's à female hen harrier aka harrier hawk. You can also see it's male mate and their offspring on other videos ("chic daddy on duty", "male watch").

  • I`d say a harrier too.

  • Yeah...Looks like an owl...!!!

  • looks like an owl

  • it's an owl, not a hawk

  • No Its Not An Owl ,. You Fool

  • nice filming

  • who wants to watch that it's sick

  • That was some cool stuff.

  • Thanks.

  • llooks line an owl to me lol

  • lol i think ur a near it nest

  • @uongduong i think you should not of skipped english class

  • wow, the little birdy dind't like the camera, mh?

XD But the film is fantastic!

  • Thanks

  • you are a retard

  • Thanks mate.

  • Hey is that in england.

  • no, France.

  • Wow, the eyes are amazing - it looks right at you!

  • wow! beautiful! maybe you were close to her nesting area.

  • Not sure what the law is in France, if that's where this was, but I'm assuming you were filming near the nest. Here in the UK that's a criminal offence if done without official permission.

So be careful out there, keep in mind what disturbance you may be causing the birds.

  • its against the law to film nests there? can you draw pictures of them though?

  • If you are disturbing a known site in the UK then both are illegal without special permission from the applicable environmental body and landowner. Just looked it up too, they are covered by the strongest EC bird legislation and it is certainly illegal to disturb their nest site in France, so toutmouche really shouldn't have shot this video.

  • their just territorial thats all

  • Ive got a Harrier living in my back yard, theyre awsome and not evil >:P

  • evil bird look at its eyes LOOK at its god damn eyes! i would run and cry in a hole

  • Harriers look like owls because hearing plays a big part in their ability to capture food just as in owls. The facial discs of owls and harriers help funnel sound to the ears. Convergent evolution.

  • it's a harrier, owls are nocturnal.

  • wow wat a beautiful bird.. so its a she? yea u must have been close to her nest or da babies.

  • Why was it attacking you? You probably were close to here chicks...

  • looks to me like an owl

  • I think so too

  • It's not an owl. It is indeed a harrier; harriers are known for their resemblance to owls, so it's a common mistake. As Northern hawk Owls are mistaken for hawks, they are really owls; the same is for the harrier.

  • lol hes pissed.

  • It's a she.

  • looks like a coopers hawk to me?

  • nope-its a Harrier-they do have long tails like accipiter, but longer still....

  • Schöne Aufnahmen,..........

  • Dis iz da turkey attak ya asshole XD,

  • That is a northen harrier? Kewl I like them, any birds of prey,I like =o

  • harrier... great footage

  • owl ?

  • Nope, no owl, it's a female northern harrier (circus cyaneus) or hen harrier, or harrier hawk (usa), or busard saint-martin (france).

You may watch her male mate and offspring on some of my videos.
