  • Can anyone tell me why this symbolizes the American sound??? ANyone

  • @Willietorres615 Because i'm British and it makes me see eagles carrying apple pie in their claws.

  • Why does this have so few views?

  • @DoctorGreyMD The great unwashed plebe audience go for the big gestures - the orchestral version holds their attention - I seriously doubt this beautifully (perfectly?) orchestrated and luminously translucent original version for thirteen players would really hold the average listener's attention. More's the pity. It is pretty damned perfect. Best regards.

  • 3:36-4:19 is my favorite part

  • i love classical music but this is not classical music this is angels singing in perfect harmony and i love it

  • too many racists and hipsters here. music is music. if you didnt know anyone or anything socially, this music would inevitable move your soul. let it.

  • I love this song. When I listen to it I can see myself on the side of a hill overlooking the grand landscape of America. Music is powerful in that it can transform your mind and lift your spirit to a plane of existence that is as close as our flawed beings can come to m momentary perfection

  • @gobluebuckeye Music is a way to reach the Divine.

Martha Graham danced this and they have it on youtube-- her interpretation, I read in her book, was dedicated to her grandmother.

  • My high school is playing this! I love it!

  • I second the *Yawn

BTW...I know classical music. Don't berate me simply becuase I dislike this.

  • Please stop picking on Russians :)

    ENJOY THE MUSIC!

  • This music is considered modern not classical, you're all ignorant. Just sayin'. :)

  • Stop feeding the troll.

  • truly, I hate the tune gift to be simple due to having been exposed to many horrifying bad performances of it in my youth.

However, copland does it in such a beautiful and unique way that it brings new life into this tune for me. Bravo!

  • wow. how can people listen to such a beautiful song as this and then go down on the posts and argue about it. People really will arue about anything. This is probably my favorite song both to listen to and to play. Anyone know the name of the painting? I kinda like it.

  • and by the way classical "pieces" are not referred to as songs! guess that makes you IGNORANT LOL

  • hold up cowboy! just because i don't like this particular piece does not mean i do not like classical music. are you from russia or what? does everyone have to share your opinion? YOU GROW UP ADOLF!!!!!!

  • @MrSamslady So you do like classical music? Ya okay...I don't think I'd believe you on that...

  • @MrSamslady Adolf was german not russian......jus saying :/

  • @OceanBlueKeys he was austian

  • @OceanBlueKeys he was austrian

  • @newjackswing21 yea.... i only realized my retarded mistake after i posted the reply :/

  • yawn!

  • @MrSamslady You have no class....why not enjoy the beautiful art of this type of music? Because you're ignorant? Because your parents never taught you class or any better? Really, classical music is the original type of music, and it's much better then listening to those hip hop artists who haven't a meaning in their words. But songs like these actually paint pictures in your mind.

  • @gtradn classical pieces are not referred to as songs! IGNORANT

  • @MrSamslady That isn't the point though?

  • @MrSamslady

Stop calling people names and enjoy the music. Ignorant people can enjoy beauty also.

  • @MrSamslady god I hate when music school ass holes nit pick. I've been playing classical violin for 20 years, I said I enjoyed a classical "song" once and some ass hole said the same thing you just did. Well, the nice thing about Aaron Copland is, he recognized the beauty of things like "simple gifts" and "common men" and despite the overwhelming genious of his music, dedicated various works to what you might call "ignorant" people. Just wanted to point out the irony. and call you an ass.

  • yawn

  • yawn

  • so perfectly beautiful:)

  • Anyone else catch 'Jupiter'?

  • @TheDukeOfEd99

I did, at around 5:10, it sounds very much like Jupiter of Holst, if that what you're talking about. And the part afterwards as well, there is definitely a hint. Not to say that Copland copied it or anything.

  • @alciefrederic No I'm not saying he copied it either. It just sounds like Holst's Jupiter

  • Sooo beautiful- thank you! This is

like a warm blanket covering me on a cold

night. Very soothing. Thank you, for posting and thanks to my dear friend for

    sharing this.

  • so beautiful. wish i could see it live!

  • the piano is out of tune

  • @Adamowilloughby the piano is not out of tun its not its just playing a a different key than the orchestra

  • きれいよ

  • I cry every time I hear this song, especially at 5:18

  • Beautiful. I heard this piece for the first time in its entirety this summer and it stays with me always. I'm moved every time I listen...in my head or out loud.
