I remember meeting George Martin's son, actually sold him his morning suit for his wedding. I actually discussed the making of this album in Montserrat and he was full of admiration for the 'quartet"...great band....'my' band from my youth
Maybe it's my musician's instinct, but it seems like they sped this song up in this live version. "Concert tempo" is guess they call it....I prefer the original tempo on the album, personally.
Who can say no to George Martin when he wants to do an album? But I think it was Conny Plank who best understood how the sound of Ultravox should leave. The intelligence and mystique was blown away and still there were only memories.
I was at the concert in Berlin and in Copenhagen and I must say OUTSTANDING concerts. However they didnt play Mine for life which is my favorite of all time with Ultravox. I still give the concerts TOP review though as the guys are still going very strong :-)
@ExtendedVersion I believe you, tried to be in Berlin but couldn't make it this time, however I was at Midge's concert in Cracow, Poland Nov 22 last year and he was so great, I can imagine the whole group and hope to see them sometimes somewhiere:)
Powerful intro, taxi driver I turn it up full volume for the customers, taken from the Monument live CD also the superb ending to Passing Strangers along with it...blows them away!
Was it the right time? Everyone fell away seeing : 'the only time' passing, and you had better bet these very same inpatient WRETCH are the souls who devide and wedge nations against one another.
Strangers who come out of no where come JUST in time; a PRECISE time.
With mouths GAPED broad and wide for ALL eyes to see.
It's in these strangers who make for EVERYONE to LIVE AND LEARN!!!!!!!
DDAAAAYYYYYUUUUUMMMMM Midge..dear gods..go with your bad self on that guitar....OMFG, has he ever looked more gorgeous..dont think so...yikes..BOOTS BOOTS...sexy Sir Midgexxxxx
