  • Not quite sure why you would actually worry about lossless encoding for an audiobook... :/

  • TO RENAME MULTIPLE M4B EXTENSIONS AT ONCE---

You can easily do this in an Automator workflow built-in to OS X. Open Automator and do this:

    Finder: Get Selected Finder Items

    Finder: Rename Finder items

    Save As: Finder Plug-In.

Ok, now go to the Finder and select all the files you want to rename, right click or control click and find your Workflow in the contextual menu. Its all pretty easy.

  • That was very helpful! Thanks. I have never messed with a M4B file before today. This was simple and easy to follow.

  • Hi, yes the file is there and can be found with windows explorer. If I put the file extension back to .m4b, itunes can find it again.

  • Hi, a while agom mcv007 asked you what to do when iTunes says that it can't find the file after you have changed the file extension from m4b to m4a. I am having he same problem. Did you work out what to do?

  • @baandoortube Can you just search for it with Windows explorer/finder?

  • Used your way twice and it worked both times...thanks!

  • hi, please assist me as i dont follow your video at all. I have itunes for windows?

i went to preferences and i dont see tools.

your video doesnt say using what to convert so i dont follow.

  • or would do this because apple files suck

  • @threenailsfilm really... you can hear a difference?

  • itunes says it cannot convert a protected file, did everything step by step. is this because of a new update?

  • @pabloandresfernandez I think it's a Lion thing. I am looking into how to fix it.

  • @mime454 any fix? it didn't work on my iTunes either. Followed each step

  • @pabloandresfernandez same thing happened to me

  • your video doesn't play

  • @nyrsky It plays for me.

  • I downloaded 7 Harry Potter Audio books. They are mighty files of 8 - 9 hours in length each in M4b format and I wana convert it to mp3. Can you please explain how to? I am using windows vista home 32bit. Is there any special software I need to download or iTunes or Realplayer might work. Thank.

  • @haidimran thats EXACTLY what ive done :L

  • Thanks a lot Mime! U were really helpful with both videos! Congrats!

  • thanks for a simple way to do this! :)

  • doesn't work on windows

  • @dman7714 What happens? It should work.

  • @mime454

I am facing the same problem. I am trying to convert Harrypotter audio files into mp3 version. I changed the extansion to m4a from m4b. But now, in iTunes, when I select the file and hit convert to mp3, it says, "none of the selected files could be converted because it could not be found". (I opened the new .m4a file in iTunes and tried this).. any ideas on whats happening?

  • @mcv007 Can you play the new files in iTunes? Message me, we can work better there, as I have more characters with which to help you.

  • @mime454 Ya... the new files work on iTunes. am using win7 btw

  • Is it possible to convert a protected m4b file to an mp3? I'm not able to do it. =/

  • What error do you get?

  • @mime454 it said that I can't convert protected files

  • Mac or PC?
