very Special Forces and visionary pig-pickin good dig the mando-Leynerd too got one that I fitted with a guitar neck and now it's a nine=string Banjo//Mando//Guitar the mandolin neck wuz a bit small for my touch. I don't think Dylan or Hendrix could top this version in transcendental vibe. I call mine contraption a "Rock Mandolin" cause you can power-chord on the four doubled courses. Cheers! and all for the great "set" here! Love it!
I can't speak for all the guys I know but it made my life different forever. 20 years old then now I'm 58 and not a day goes by I'm not reminded of it and see it over again in the news. I would not be who I am or do what I do without that experience. Good and Bad.
my sister had this cd(it has since gone missing) i listened to it on mistake and it changed my life. I used to be about only rock music, strongly opposed to country, bluegrass and really anything that wasn't rock. these guys(DAVID WEST was the main guy to arrange these songs) can really shred. Now I love play blugrass and respect it very much-this cd is just amazing, thank you for posting it.
the cover of little wing and are you experienced are incredible.
@nocturnarboreal isnt it weird how your hear something as good as hendrix and at that point u think there is nothing better just because hendrix is so good, but when u hear a good blue grass musician play one of ur favorites its life changing ur completely blow away, i used to really only like hendrix n grateful dead until i hear ripple played on a picking style then i quickly fell in love with blue grass and classical i just like it more modernized with still the whole mystic vibe. good music
I'm a USMC Nam Vet. Guns kill, they also protect. I was willing to die for your freedom, willing to kill for my own. Don't block the door, I'll walk away. Nam wasn't a righteous war but most of the men who believed in freedom enough to fight were.
@fatandround Thank you for your service. As much as I disagree with some of the acts the American government has condoned in times of war, I have a mammoth amount of respect for anyone willing to risk their life to fight for the rights of their countrymen.
lol awesome, its picking on hendrix as of the bluegrass finger picking in this version. and its hendrix as its a cover of the hendrix version not the dylan version
@ChemicalFrankenstein I would never consider this a Dylan song because Hendrix made it popular and completely reworked the instrumental. I feel the ancient allusion coursing through Jimi's words. Dylan's voice is like the Nikolai Gogol of music. Write good material but sounds like he's dying.
Great jam! Listened to Hendrix a lot in Nam, especially Electric Ladyland. Hendrix made this song what it is.

Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead used to put out whole albums of bluegrass music. Check out "Old and In the Way" sometime.

why is it called 'pickin' on hendrix'?
we all mean 'pickin' as in "making fun of", right??
MercMaster101 2 years ago 2
No "pickin'" as in using a pick like on the banjo or guitar.
BLAKERZ91 2 years ago
wouldn't it be pickin' on bob dylan if they're covering all along the watchtower?
ChemicalFrankenstein 2 years ago 22
@ChemicalFrankenstein Well, I guess they're covering the Hendrix version. Though they are rather similar apart from the solo and texture.
