ONE MORE THING. Just say this to any christian. Why do we have to lern unconditional love. When only to find that when you die you get conditional love, judgement? Is god evil and sends us to burn for ever, for our sins or not believing in jesus. Its mind control for the masses thats all. SELL THE VATICAN! END WORLD HUNGER!
!!READ ME... What you say is true to some extent but there is a missing link in our everlution and some of the evidence has been pushed in favour.... ALL GOD IS THAT THE UNIVERS WAS NO ACCIDENT. Science likes to say it is.... just ask yourself are you an accident? Or are you ment to be here? ; ))
3. Our actions are controlled by the will to survive. The only reason for any action done is to survive.
4. I can't. Like SmileWidePro said it's all theories and your the one claiming to have the answer.
5. The theory behind the big bang is not that there was an explosion but a rapid expansion. Your assuming that every atheist believes in the big bang and this just isn't so.
1. People need answers. When people couldn't explain the sun moving across the sky they thought it was a god. It's been the same throughout history with any question without an answer and it's the same today. People believe in god to answer questions without answers.
2. No. So many people believe it so even though there is no proof to support it, it has survived. Eventually it might be disproven but we would have to have every answer to every question ever asked.
'Its a pretty persuasive theory; do some reading on it' - I have studied evolution for over 25 years; I work in the sciences but I don't find it persuasive any more (I did until I was around 35 y.o.) - also, I don't believe in God. I don't really have a need to know why or where we came from, but I am extremely interested to know why 'evolutionists' cannot see that the theory of macro evolution is faith based - for my money, evolutionists and creationists are both religion followers!
Hey man, I am going to make a response video to your answers to my questions about God. But I made a video with a question for Atheist and I want you to check out my channel and answer it for me.
I was listening to some discussion of religion the other day and the word FEAR comes to mind. Like you said, religion more or less provides answers for things that humans cannot explain for ourselves....and I think fear (of not knowing) maybe a motive that forces human develop these belief systems.
Fear also used as a control factor like most us always heard growing up obey God or suffer eternal damnation when we die.
Exactly! Fear overwhelms rational thought. And also we humans are the only living beings I know of that know we are going to die. It's every animal's natural instinct to want to live. The afterlife is an offspring of our natural fear of death. It is what our brain gives us to cope with that problem and lets us continue to live our lives.
Well, I am impressed. I think you did an excellent job in answering those questions, quite cojol I must say.
As for us humans the only thing that we really have I each other (well besides the planet Earth and other life forms) and I think that supercedes our faiths in what ever beliefs that we have.
Just couple things, you said the bible is the most sold (or most popular) book in human history but look at the amount of re-authoring it has gone through which is compounded by interpretation.
I believe in God, but I don't force my faith down the throats of evolution believers. Bible says that whether to believe or not to believe is everyones' own choice. So forcing methods are not right, but offering faith gently is the best option.
Is a higher power but think of reproduction and creations of animals at 1 piont there was nuthing and nothing can only be nuthing how did something evolve from nuthing science can not explain that to me how was the life created if there was nothing at all
If God is infinity, he holds a value of 0. 0 doesn't have a positive value nor a negative value. The same can be applied to matter: he does not have a positive weigh, nor a negative weigh, proving he is not matter, just an idea. If someone was to oppose him being an idea, than God would have matter, making him infinity. If he was to have a positive value, he is not infinite, has a boarder and a creator.
Too me, the world of science, including evolution are as footprints or fingerprints of a greater force or intelligence. I still believe in deductive reasoning and logical thinking. Because of this, I have difficulty believing that any collection of chemicals elements, energy or matter can just take it upon themselves, get together and form something at random uncontrolled.
Nevertheless, thank you for your very thought provoking post.
If there is "evolution" why? Water has been water for millions of millenia and it hasn't changed. Gravity and rotation have existed longer than man can imagine and it has not changed. Grass is grass; even tn the days of the dinasours. It has barely, if at all, changed. Therefore, why is there "evolution" except that something designed it. Just because it is invisible does not mean that it does not exist.
My logic and scientific theory could not answer enough questions to satisfy me.
A series of events took place in my life that defied all logic. I realized then, that there had to be something deeper than what I saw on the surface. Without going into much detail, I still believe in the legitimacy of the scientific theory. However, I can't help but to be convinced that there has to be something (non-religious) with some level of intelligence that fashions and drives everything.
Before a series of peculiar events in my life, I thought very much like you. I did not look upon the Bible with any reverence at all. I believed firmly in the science world and scientific theory. I refused to look toward anything mistical in order to explain anything. I argued that God could nor really exist because NO ONE EVER SAW HIM. (I hardly believed that there was a Jesus; and certainly a Jesus that was beyond an ordinary man.) I believed strictly in scientific theory.
ya and when the bible says "and god said, and let there be light, and there was" it proves its inconsistency.. in the bible it says on the first day god created light.. but on the other hand, it says the sun wasnt created until the 4th day.. and the sun brings light.. the bible is clearly inconsistent..
The universe isn't infinite. It's finite and unbounded.
Also, the big bang wasn't an explosion, it was a rapid expansion.
But, all evidence points to there being a rapid expansion of space-time. What happened before the Planck time is unknown.
The only two things that make sense is either all matter was in the form of energy in a singularity. Or, quantum fluctuations allowed for all matter to be made from nothing; that is hypothetical, however.
@berniebay yes. My point was that I did not support that the big band was a moment of creation, as many people as well as I am assuming the person who ask me the question, think it is. :)
@SmileWidePro You first answer was good but your other arguments were weak. I will make a refute video in do time. If you have any question for me please ask. I would love to giver you my answers to my questions and any question you may have in my video.
@berniebay You are correct in that the universe is not infinite. I will explain why in my response video to this video. But you are wrong in saying the Big Bang was not an explosion. The Big Bang was an explosion (hence the word "bang")...the expansion of the universe is the effect of the cause not the cause itself.
It wasn't an actual explosion in the sense that we know it. It was an expansion of all energy and space-time.
The Big Bang was a term used to mock the theory and it eventually stuck.
The current expansion is a cause of the big bang, but the big bang was just a rapid expansion from a singularity. so rapid that space-time traveled faster than the speed of light.
I think it went from the size of an atom to the size of a base ball in one Planck second, if I remember right.
@berniebay But something can not expansion without a cause. Something can not expand from nothing. Yes, the universe is expanding, but that is not the Big Bang itself. the Big Bang was the first cause. Atoms, temperture and energy created an explosion and from that we get the explansion of the universe.
@berniebay You are correct, one could easily say the "explosion" needed a cause; that is what Christians believe. It is not logical to believe that the explosion did not have a cause because the explosion created a functional universe therefore the laws of physics tell us it needs a cause otherwise there would be no order. God is a very logical explaination for this cause. The spirit that is known as God is eternal therefore does not need a cause to exist before creation.
If god is eternal, fine. Believe that. There's no evidence to support such a claim, but believe as you wish.
But, if you were to say god is eternal, I can easily say that the singularity is eternal and all the energy is eternal. And the energy sometimes expands and retracts in a pattern. Like a sin wave, pulses.
The universe exists all the time but in two forms. But, that's not an honest answer. We don't know the answer yet.
@berniebay That is a question science will never be able to answer. Science can never give an explanation to the purpose of life. Science can only try to tell us "how" we exist it can never tell us "why" we exist. This is why both science & religion need either other. Neither have all the answers by themselves. Albert Einstein said it best "Science without religion is lame; Religion without science is blind." Also, singularity & energy are not eternal because the have a first cause.
Time didn't exist in the singularity. And I could easily claim that the singularity had no cause.
But, again, it's a non-answer. What happened before the Big Bang is completely unknown. Nobody has an answer. There are many hypothesis, but none are well supported. Especially the god hypothesis.
@berniebay singularity does have a cause because it serves a purpose. Things with purpose also have a cause & thus can not be eternal. Why? because if it has a cause that means it has a time of cause (time of creation) and if it has a time of cause then it is relative to time also giving it an ending time. This is why everything within this physical dimension is relative to time; because nothing that exist is without purpose.
@berniebay Why do I assume that all things with a cause serve a purpose? Just look around. Name one thing on this earth/universe that does not serve a purpose. There is not ONE THING that is here for no reason. That is simple cause & effect. If something exist without a first cause then it exists without reason. Why were phones invented? They were invented for the PURPOSE to talk to people not close to you. Now imagine if phones were created without this purpose....what good would they be?
@berniebay (continued) It would have no purpose or function. This logic holds true to everything else within existence that was created. If something as simple as the existence of a phone seems pointless without its purpose...why would you think the universe is any different? If it exist then is has a purpose and therefore has a first cause.
We have no reason to assume that just becuase all things with a cause have purpose then all things with purpose have a cause.
And that's still circular logic. The universe has purpose becuase it was caused. And becuase it has cause, that means there is purpose.
And religion's answer for why isn't supported by evidence. I never said science could answer why. I said there is no answer as to what happened before the big bang.
@berniebay Religion's answer is supported by evidence...the evidence is science. How? Because the explanation of Religion's "why" is partly based of off science's "how". Again, both science and religion need each other to find out the answers. Niether can hold on its own. There is evidence for God. Now, whether you choose to believe it or not that is on you. But "God'' as an answer is at the very least...a possible opinion.
Just because someone claims to know why we exist doesn't mean that they are correct in their assumption. And anything is possible. But that does not mean it's accurate.
I would like to some demonstrable evidence. Not philosophical, however. God can be proved to exist and proved not to exist if we use philosophical evidence. If it can work both ways then it's worthless.
@berniebay God can not be proven to exist just like He can not be proven to not exist. It is not humanly possible, and that very statement supports the evidence for His existence because it's about.....belief. He gives us the free will to believe or not to believe but never to prove one way or the other and that is why we can't see Him. If we could, we would have no choice to believe in God which would violate human free will to choose. That is the whole point of salvation....BELIEF. Not proof.
@berniebay There is evidence for God....a lot of evidence actually. Everything that we know to be true points to a Creator as being the most logical explanation. Religion doesnt claim proof, it claims evidence left by God. Religion can explain its evidence for the belief in God through personal experience and observation of reality. Science can not give evidence for evolution. Evolution is a claim without evidence; God is not.
Not quite. Buy a biology text book and read it. The evidence is outlined in there very accurately. Experiments have been done by thousands of independent biologists, all of whom come to the same conclusions. There is DNA evidence, fossil evidence, and observational evidence.
The fact that you believe life looks designed doesn't mean it is. I would have to say it doesn't look created or designed. Something designed would be constructed better.
@berniebay That statment is not accurate. Just because something is imperfect does not mean it was not designed. A painting is designed by a painter but that is not to suggest that the painting is perfect. But please explain to me how evolution is accurate? How could such a claim be possible?
DNA mutates and beneficial mutations allow for organisms to reproduce more efficiently so the genes are passed on. That's the basic idea of evolution.
Speciation has been observed in plants, bacteria, and flies. Fossil records show that less complex life forms existed b before more complex life forms.
DNA exists, mutations occur in DNA, animals with beneficial traits in a specific environment survive. DNA mutations alter traits. Why does that sound so implausible?
@berniebay mutations occur in DNA? What is the proof of this? I agree that traits may be altered but it does not change it to something completely different. What did humans evolve from?
DNA replication isn't perfect. Sometimes it replicates incorrectly. Base pairs can be deleted or duplicated in the wrong places. There is a large number of how many mutations can occur. Chromosome parts can switch with each other as well.
Humans and modern apes share a common ancestor. There is evidence in our DNA to show that. Apes have 48 chromosomes, we have 46. In one of our Chromosomes, there are extra telomeres where they shouldn't be. We have two fused chromosome pairs.
@berniebay Ok, the first paragraph sounds acceptable but it still doesnt suggest that the mutations change it into something comepletely different. Its type many vary but its kind does not. There is no evidence that shows that humans and apes come from a common species. There is only evidence that shows apes are in some ways similar to us. If we had a common ancestor that means we would still be able to mate with apes; just as cats can mate with different cats. Again there is no PROOF.
No, we are different species. The word "kind" has no biological evidence. Dogs and wolves are the same "kind" but cannot mate and produce fertile offspring.
What prevents a population from changing "kind?" What biological process is it that prevents such a change?
The biological explanation is that mutations always occur. And many small changes over a small amount of time equate to really big changes over a long period of time.
@berniebay Niether Atheist or Theist can prove their claims to be 100% truth so for either to say that they can prove the other wrong is foolish and irresponsible.
The burden of proof is on the one making the claim. Theists claim that there is a god. I do not believe their claim. I'm not making a claim by rejecting one. I lack a belief in the claim.
And why would something have to be absolutely accurate? Absolute certainty is a bane to scientific inquiry.
I don't say it's impossible for there to be a god or gods. I'm just not convinced by the claims due to the lack of evidence.
@berniebay Without absolute certainty everything is subject to reasonable questioning. But what I am saying is, it is foolish for any atheist to not say God is not at least some what of a logical possibility just like it is foolish for a theist to say they can prove God exist. Saying either would claim an absolute certainty which neither can prove. If an atheist chooses not to believe the evidence for God...fine. That is the whole point of free will. But dont say it's not a possible explanation.
Of course it's up for questioning, everything should be questioned. When questions are posed and answered accurately and correctly, then we can determine what hypothesis are false and which are true.
Even today, scientists test Newtonian physics to find holes in it. And many haven't been found. Some have been found, thanks to questioning.
I haven't once said it wasn't a possible explanation. I'm asking for evidence. Without evidence then there is no reason to believe a claim.
All these questions seem to be from people who are just trying to find some meaning in life and when they hear that science says there is no meaning to life, flip out. You can make meaning out of your life regardless of what you believe..... Mind if I do a vid response of this? It would be trying to answer these too.
Five minutes in, and I have no idea where you're going.

@IamGarySimpson
If it can work both ways then it's worthless.
berniebay 10 months ago
@berniebay God can not be proven to exist just like He can not be proven to not exist. It is not humanly possible, and that very statement supports the evidence for His existence because it's about.....belief. He gives us the free will to believe or not to believe but never to prove one way or the other and that is why we can't see Him. If we could, we would have no choice to believe in God which would violate human free will to choose. That is the whole point of salvation....BELIEF. Not proof.

@IamGarySimpson
Well, I can't believe something without evidence.
If I said that a magic boysenberry muffin made the universe, and I believe it, does that make it true? Of course it doesn't.
What one believes doesn't necessarily reflect reality.
The burden of evidence is on the one making the claim. This applies to ALL claims. Your god claims aren't excluded from this.
berniebay 10 months ago
@berniebay There is evidence for God....a lot of evidence actually. Everything that we know to be true points to a Creator as being the most logical explanation. Religion doesnt claim proof, it claims evidence left by God. Religion can explain its evidence for the belief in God through personal experience and observation of reality. Science can not give evidence for evolution. Evolution is a claim without evidence; God is not.
IamGarySimpson 10 months ago
@IamGarySimpson
Something designed would be constructed better.
berniebay 10 months ago
@berniebay That statment is not accurate. Just because something is imperfect does not mean it was not designed. A painting is designed by a painter but that is not to suggest that the painting is perfect. But please explain to me how evolution is accurate? How could such a claim be possible?
IamGarySimpson 10 months ago
@IamGarySimpson
Why does that sound so implausible?
berniebay 10 months ago
@berniebay mutations occur in DNA? What is the proof of this? I agree that traits may be altered but it does not change it to something completely different. What did humans evolve from?
IamGarySimpson 10 months ago
@IamGarySimpson
We have two fused chromosome pairs.
berniebay 10 months ago
@berniebay Ok, the first paragraph sounds acceptable but it still doesnt suggest that the mutations change it into something comepletely different. Its type many vary but its kind does not. There is no evidence that shows that humans and apes come from a common species. There is only evidence that shows apes are in some ways similar to us. If we had a common ancestor that means we would still be able to mate with apes; just as cats can mate with different cats. Again there is no PROOF.
IamGarySimpson 10 months ago
@IamGarySimpson

IamGarySimpson 10 months ago
@IamGarySimpson
I never said either could prove the either wrong.
I'm just not convinced by the claims due to the lack of evidence.
berniebay 10 months ago
@berniebay Without absolute certainty everything is subject to reasonable questioning. But what I am saying is, it is foolish for any atheist to not say God is not at least some what of a logical possibility just like it is foolish for a theist to say they can prove God exist. Saying either would claim an absolute certainty which neither can prove. If an atheist chooses not to believe the evidence for God...fine. That is the whole point of free will. But dont say it's not a possible explanation.
IamGarySimpson 10 months ago
@IamGarySimpson

Small correction. Copernicus proved that Earth go around the sun.

thank you for making this video. it was really interesting and it really got me thinking. :)

All these questions seem to be from people who are just trying to find some meaning in life and when they hear that science says there is no meaning to life, flip out. You can make meaning out of your life regardless of what you believe..... Mind if I do a vid response of this? It would be trying to answer these too.
