My strongest piece of evidence is that whenever Slash or the other members of the band are questioned about Axl, they all say just ask Axl. They say this because they know the truth and that's all that matters to them. Plus when the do ask Axl, he just talks himself into a whole by putting the other members down. Axl definitely needed the original band, look how often he changes the lineup for the new GN'R.
(Part 4) If you are an Axl fan, sorry to say but at the end after he fired Gilby Clarke, Slash left and Axl was kind of pathetic begging Slash to come back.The rest of the band followed suit and then there was Velvet Revolver which is way better than the current GN'R. So Axl fans don't be offended. If you don't believe me, look it up. I have been a fan since I was 13 and I am almost 19 now.
(Part 3) Besides the more people will recognize Slash before Axl in the Use Your Illusion albums because of the November Rain solos. Even Dizzy Reed deserves credit, those piano riffs were amazing. By the way I am aware that Axl wrote the November Rain Piano riff, just saying. Guns N' Roses is my favorite band and I don't want to talk anyone down but I do know who is at fault for the bands end, Axl.

The structural integrity of the band was compromised when Axl tried to change the bands entire vibe. When Axl fired Gilby Clarke, he did it without talking to the band first.
what Mr Shadows doesnt realise is that without Slash comming up with the melodies and solos on the use your illusions albums that he seems to think was mostly Axl, the songs wouldnt be nearly as good, the guitar parts just make the songs. and without Izzy, it wouldnt be that way either
What's funny is that I find UYI 1 & 2 to have too much Axl influence. You Could already hear him changing the band and pushing everyone else out. It was no longer 'Guns N Roses' It became "Axl & the backup band".

Guns' Traci Gunn to form Guns N' Roses but Gunn was quickly replaced by Slash and trust me when Slash was growing up he played his guitar 8 to 12 hrs a day and that to me doesn't sound like he had a free ride!!!!!!

To me GNR's White album was Appetite for Destruction, I mean, it's the fastest selling debut album in history. I still loved the Illusion albums, but I preffered Appettite for Destruction

The white album was purposely simplified using less intricate songs and recording techniques, to contrast the prior album sgt. peppers, even the cover was white, a symbol of understatement.
Maybe shadows mis quoted slash and in fact slash meant the comparison in context of song significance; as despite the white album being 'simple', it contained some of the most archetypal and well written songs the Beatles had ever produced.

You know nothing of the breakup, so before you share more untrue gossip, I'll set it straight.
Slash was a very talented song writer, and an inspirational performer (at times) onstage. But his alcoholism was what sparked Axl's controlling behaviour. Who'd want a drunk lead guitarist, someone who'd come onstage drunk and perform sloppy solos like Slash sometimes did (want proof? I can provide a few links of his sloppy drunk guitarin).
Axl did what anyone would do in a situation like that, he ensured the band's survival (or attempted to). It was either, hold Slash's hand and take him to rehab, or hire other guitarists as a kind of *insurance measure*. Slash has done a lot since GNR, and what does he have to show for it all? VR have barely gone platinum years after forming, whereas Chinese Democracy went double platinum within a few months.

All the songs Slash said he has rejected (November rain, SCOM, etc etc) have enriched GNR's catalogue and sound. W/O Axl's input many of the albums would have been like a plain Velvet Revolver album that is really boring compared to UYI I and II. Not to mention lyrics that one can really buy into easily, unlike Nickelback lyrics that are just stupid most of the times. I think Axl did matter as much as Slash and Izzy.

To me GNR's White album was Appetite for Destruction, I mean, it's the fastest selling debut album in history. I still loved the Illusion albums, but I preffered Appettite for Destruction

The white album was purposely simplified using less intricate songs and recording techniques, to contrast the prior album sgt. peppers, even the cover was white, a symbol of understatement.
Maybe shadows mis quoted slash and in fact slash meant the comparison in context of song significance; as despite the white album being 'simple', it contained some of the most archetypal and well written songs the Beatles had ever produced.

Yeah, OK, so the solution is to make the band wait so they can drink even more.
Alcoholism is a fucked thing for anyone, but at the end of the day they were a rock n roll band from the Strip. Booze and partying goes with the territory I'm afraid.
It's nice and all to be pro Axl and say fuck everyone else, but one day he might make you wait 3 hours for a gig, and I guarantee you'll change your tune.

Dude, I saw him 4 times when he came to Australia 2007.
Wasn't bad, but Rose Tattoo & Sebastian Bach (who opened the show) were better, in my opinion.
And yes, he made the crowd wait, and the crowd got pissed.
I saw VR aswell, and they were way better than the new GN'R, again, in my opinion.
Each to his own, but I was pro Axl for 18 years, and after seeing both GN'R and VR live, I have safely converted to pro Slash, who also has moved on from extensive substance/alcohol abuse.

I saw them in June 2007. Pretty much the same show as Inland Invasion...
The bottom line is, Axl hitting the stage 1, 2 or 3 hours after the scheduled time is rude, unprofessional and disrespectul to his fans & bandmates, despite how you think you'd feel in the situation.
It's funny how people like you, who have never even seen them live, preach about how it's art & they'd be happy to wait for a show blah blah blah...

if it was GNR after steven was fired and the band's biggest song-writer izzy left in 1991 then its GNR now. axl hasnt gone solo. the other members of the new GNR have co-written 13 out of 14 songs on Chinese Democracy.
also theyre "new" in name only. most of these guys have been in GNR for a decade or so.

You know nothing of the breakup, so before you share more untrue gossip, I'll set it straight.
Slash was a very talented song writer, and an inspirational performer (at times) onstage. But his alcoholism was what sparked Axl's controlling behaviour. Who'd want a drunk lead guitarist, someone who'd come onstage drunk and perform sloppy solos like Slash sometimes did (want proof? I can provide a few links of his sloppy drunk guitarin).

Axl did what anyone would do in a situation like that, he ensured the band's survival (or attempted to). It was either, hold Slash's hand and take him to rehab, or hire other guitarists as a kind of *insurance measure*. Slash has done a lot since GNR, and what does he have to show for it all? VR have barely gone platinum years after forming, whereas Chinese Democracy went double platinum within a few months.

All the songs Slash said he has rejected (November rain, SCOM, etc etc) have enriched GNR's catalogue and sound. W/O Axl's input many of the albums would have been like a plain Velvet Revolver album that is really boring compared to UYI I and II. Not to mention lyrics that one can really buy into easily, unlike Nickelback lyrics that are just stupid most of the times. I think Axl did matter as much as Slash and Izzy.
