He is too heavy for Nicholas. The actor they chose for Nicholas and Alexandra was perfect in every way. Rickman is also built wrong for Rasputin but his acting is wonderful. The Rasputin in Nicholas and Alexandra was perfect in looks but not passion.
Interesting the Czarevitch should have a cheap brass bed. The most pretentious branch of our family (the ones who still have conservatories & butlers, and send the kids off to boarding schools) all have brass beds: something that puzzles us. Our branch insists upon giant Rosewood or Walnut beds, and think that brass is downmarket.
But then, the Czarina was said to have had atrocious taste, and to have fitted their private rooms with mail-order department store furnishings from England.
I can't believe that this troll is who they cast as the Czar. Nicholas may have been an idiot, but he was fabulously beautiful. And they should have cast someone hotter as Rasputin, too.
@megaswenson That troll is one of the greatest actors that the world has in the moment. What do you expect: Brad Pitt as Nicholas? Mckellen´s Czar is just perfect and i think Rasputin doesent need more hotness his personality is what makes him so atractive.
