This is my fave commercial of all time. We always joke whenever there's a mess in the house that the ghost of Robert Goulet must have been in here. RIP, Mr. Goulet. Love ya.
I did security for this commercial. It was filmed in Toronto. It was supposed to have Goulet turn into a dog at the end but he was pissed about that and demanded rewrites. He also slept a lot and needed a private suite to ponder his lines. But I did get to meet him and he signed an autograph for me. The best was the Richard Gere look alike he was cool. I ate dinner with him. He has some great Richard Gere stories.
This is too funny and it always stuck with me.. And who cares if it's the real Goulet or not! It's still funny as hell.. Now all of u shut up and go eat Emerald nuts!! Lol jk
Around 3:30 PM today at the office, I started to nod off. As soon as I came alert (real quick, the boss was in the office, too), I thought of this commercial and wondered if I could find it here.
It was so great that RG got to be *cool*, twice in his lifetime.
He was in some risky stuff later on in his show biz life, he kind of was a cool Leslie Nielson in a way. He was on two episode's of TV Funhouse a short run Comedy Central show that was ultra raunchy with Triumph the Insult Dog. Must see TV! He played himself in Vegas while animal pupets are getting wasted and throwing up on poker tables, among other deviant behavior.
RIP- Mr. Goulet- Your Emerald Nuts commercial is a constant source of humour in my house. Whenever anyone's room is a mess, they say, "Robert Goulet must have been in here." I also loved your rendition of Jingle Bells in Bart Simpson's casino treehouse. What a sense of humour and what a voice!
Merci, Robert. Vous nous avez donné tous tellement l'amusement et le bonheur et moi espèrent seulement que vous avez que beaucoup vous a remboursé en arrière là où sont.
(His mom was French-Canadian and he lived in Edmonton in his teens; prolly wouldn't have understood the above 'french' translation from Babelfish. ^_^ )
Growing up, there was always music playing. One of the albums that was part of the rotation was the soundtrack to Camelot. Even as a kid, I was drawn to Mr. Goulet's voice. You could almost imagine the twinkle in his eye when he sung.
One of my favorite movies is Naked Gun 2 1/2. Mr. Goulet's part in it made it even more of a classic. This commercial is a soon-to-be classic, too.
RIP, Mr. Goulet. Thanks for your amazing talent & contribution to theater & music...you will certainly be missed.

Emerald Nuts hasn't been the same since Robert Goulet died. Is it me, or is he wearing a shirt like the security guys wore on classic STAR TREK.
