I thought it was possible to route a whole bunch of audio channels to an external DAW with rewire so why not a whole bunch of monophonic CV signals through a bunch of audio channels to a program that merges them into polyphony and then MIDI out to external gear.
I thought your segment at MMM was quite refreshing. You are truly inspiring, and very easy to listen to.
Is there a way to set something like this up without using MAX MSP? I have some hardware I would love to control with the Reason/Record sequencer, or even virtual instruments from another DAW.
Essentially you're just converting CV to audio pulses, which are then converted into MIDI via MAX MSP, right? Can this be achieved in a different way?
CV to MIDI converter is another possibility, provided you have a way to set up audio to cv. Once I get the patch sorted, so you wont need a full license of MaxMSP. I will either compile it as an application or distribute the collective which will run on the free Max5 Runtime.
@PeffTV Well, audio to CV can be achieved in Reason/Record with the use of Thor, based on what I've learned from you. I own an Alesis DM5, which has 16 triggers. I figure if I send audio pulse signals out of my DA/AD to the triggers then set up the correct MIDI note mapping on the DM5, I could then use the MIDI out of the DM5 to control another hardware synth. The only confusing part is how would I get note pitch to translate properly. I have an analog drum synth that could possibly read the DM5
@MassiveSoundCanada I would probably need to convert CV to Audio for this use, using a Thor. Then send Audio out to a DM5 trigger. Then use the DM5 MIDI out to talk to my other hardware.

@martindmunro I would be interested in seeing your solution. I've got cv to midi working for Mac but not windows.
