I tryed to watch the video on your website so I could watch the whole thing, but it wouldn't play. DO you have a second video that covers the last 5 mins? Thanks for the great lessons!
@Guitarfreak365 Not sure why that wouldn't play, the version on the site is the full 12 minute video, maybe hit "Play" to get it started, but then pause it and let it download for a while before continuing.
This was a very amazing lesson. Like the other guy said, trying to explain soul is hard. I have a problem though and help would be great..before I started studying scales, I would just improvise my own stuff, but since ive learned theblues style of the minor penatonic, its all i can seem to really do, and i find it alot less expressive. I cant remember how to channel that soul that was my own that i had before learning to play the scales correctly.. Help would be great! Steven
You are probably one of the most helpful teachers i have ever come across. You're clear, concise, and relateable. I have seen many video's, talked to many a teacher, but you're the only one who i have both subscribed to, and wanted to buy his lessons.
And once again, thank you for providing free lessons for starving musicians as myslef.
Great videos man! Putting playing with soul into words is extremely difficult!
I've tried to come up with a way to control playing with soul so I could do it on command, but that is the worst thing. I can only do it when I don't try to at all and I'm literally just there.
I have to say that I never picked up the guitar until I really loved the music. And to me, blues is the purest form because it is so individualized.
You covered many concepts in this video that are really important. I would ask that everyone who enjoyed this video to go back and watch it a second time to let all the information sink in. This will be in my favorites for sure.
i wish half the ppl who post negetive comments here on youtube would watch this video and learn how to direct their anger into their playing (for those who play guitar) there would be a lot more cool videos to watch..lol.
on another note.. the little diddy you played in the beginning was very "el macamboish" tone wise.. great stuff
Is the jam at the start something you've created? It's great. The reasons you said you picked up the guitar make up probably 90% of the reason I play guitar. Not really the reason I picked up guitar though, (guitars are cool!) but since i first heard jimi and then stevie less than a year after i got my guitar, I realized how powerful expressing yourself through wood wire and metal could be. Since I first heard them guitar has become the most important part of my life.
These lessons are exactly what I've been looking for because they put things into perspective and teach how to make sense of other lessons. Thanks

Nice video. Well spoken. :-)
I play guitar because it allows me to lose myself. A few moments every day the guitar lets me escape my weary everyday-life. The guitar is my drug.

hey nice words. also liked your other lessons :)
great job. not many people who teach guitar on youtube talk about that area of playing guitar because, as you said, it's intimate.
