This is too mild to be called combat fishing. Combat fishing... you get bozo's that will try to cast a line in while standing behind you... try to move you out of a hole. When a fisherman hooks a fish... you will see 10 to 20 fisherman try to get closer... like that is the only fish in the area. You have to watch for hooks whizzing by you way to close. You will have your spot taken if you move, to go bathroom, to grab something, so moving, isn't a great idea, when you are in true combat fishing.

Our food prices are very high here in Alaska, so people will go catch fish for the freezer or like I said smoking the salmon to enjoy later. So yes this is considered 'MEAT' fishing. Catch and release has no purpose in a fishery like this, the fish will die anyways and probably not even spawn at all.

When a fisherman hooks a fish... you will see 10 to 20 fisherman try to get closer... like that is the only fish in the area. You have to watch for hooks whizzing by you way to close. You will have your spot taken if you move, to go bathroom, to grab something, so moving, isn't a great idea, when you are in true combat fishing.
