MIDWEEK SPORTS SPECAIL.. the music sounds very simalar to, the intro tune, broadcast on London ITV regions, (and maybe other regions), in the 1980s/1970s ....
The music lived on across the south coast for many years after as it was the theme to the saturday afternoon coverage of saints and pompey football on Radio Solent thru out the 70s and 80s . To this day i had no idea that it came from freewheelers ,
This is a piece of great childhood nostalgia. The series was popular among schoolboys in Sweden in the late 1960s. My father and I followed it week by week, so I have a lot of B/W memories of the nefarious von Gelb's schemes, such as pens providing mental control and the attempt to poisons London's water. IIRC he also wanted to laser London from orbit. Thanks for putting it here,
Great! well done, a truly "vintage" piece of Southern's famous children's telly. Southern were not very "Network orientated" with their programming - the exception being kids TV. These were greatly admired throughout the network, and many were sold overseas.
I seem to remember a boxing ring and people who went in it disappeared.
Is this the right series or am I thinking about Timeslip.
Either way the theme tune is typical of the times 10/10.
