Last night while baked at around 2am I heard one of the most intense shootouts like 5 min away from my house that lasted for about 2 minutes then all of a sudden this chorus kept repeating itself in my head >But every nigga on my block, can't stop, and he won't stop, and he don't stop
damn i need to know the sample of this track, i know the drums are from the kool is back drum break, but if someone know the other sample please tell me
This is in my eyes the best biography ever in rap history - and maybe music history. It is written without filter. He explains how he went through life, what he remembers and truly knows still how he was as a person. There is no moral preaching what so ever! It is facts, how he experienced it as he lived it and only "drops a moral bomb" in the very end. I think "I covered my ass with baby powder..." is maybe the strongest line I have ever heard in rap. And his fathership explanation is raw.
@feringard - I don't think you understood. He was going through the story as he saw it. Much of it isn't pretty. But like he says in the end - "I look at myself and see every other nigga I knew" - sums it all up. The "Life is a bitch, so fuck it", was what he thought at the time. And though it partly is true, Ras Kass is not meaning to send this message out. He tells it how it was, without filter. That makes it so real, but most people should note that this is no life to lead.
every track on Soul On Ice is classic...such a slept on album...unfortunately Lil Wayne albums go 2-3 x platinum while a lot of people still don't know about this album
This is such a good track eiiish i never fully listened to Ras Kass heard his name brought up but this guy is seriouslyyy DOPE cant belive what im hearing
@CiyaDe Just look at the ratings according to wikipedia, like 5/5's, 10/10's. Just did not get into the mainstream I guess. Great song and album though. Brutal.
this nigga i can label him unofficially but really he is incomparable ,he uses tough beats ,as also big l did ,this is rap ,depend on one way of beats ,& having an own tongue .
alot of what he says in this song, i experienced, cept my mom left when I was 6 and went crazy, my uncles and aunts die, alot of my family on my moms side is in the pen or on the streets, my dad was abusive for a couple of years then i left too.. fuck even though ras talks about the white man bad in certain songs, he still reaches my soul.
the only thing that has stopped me listening to rass kass is the fact he joined g-unit. he was one of the best lyrical mc's that existed, nature of the threat, order out of choas. just lost all respect for him now but still soul on ice is his best material!!!
he never joined liar- plus the unit is one of the last labels thats safe to release gangsta shit. Look what mobb, mop and spider did. they put out the music they feelin, on a label that knows how to push product
Yeah, every winter I put on my hoodie and take a walk listening to LS and Soul On Ice on my iPod. Good albums to listen to and just think about the world, especially this song. I turn off the lights at night and look out the window at the moon and everything Ras says in this song I picture; the part where he wrecks the car, covering himself in baby powder, god is white, etc.

Word up, the track has everything from struggle to social issues.

ras kass personifies the downfall of hiphop. smart, creative, streetwise at first, and degraded to some gunslinging, game-dissing, west coast 'ryder'
