I was just fighting a bridge battle with the Milanese, playing as the Byzantines that was f*cking epic. They had so many more numbers, but just at the right time I had all my guys push into them on that small space where the bridge connects to the bank, routing almost all their men.

Nice charge. Whenever I get to play custom battle I use the french for their excellent heavy cavalry. Put them all 20 divisions in a single line formation and charge the enemy. Brilliant.

fun fact - for most of the 100 years war the french couldn't win straight battles against england so their strategy was just to hide in castles until invading armies ran out of food and went home.

It is too easy to win when they are more numerous and what there is in front of the light troops (militia and light cavalry), against heavy sergeants and English knights win has neither is worth nor honeur.

Honestly, I COULD NEVER control a battle with such precision like that. I have no clue how to keep people together while attacking like that, and have no clue how to organize the units into the little separate armies that you just clicked the tab to control, but I only got the game 2 days ago =). Nice battle.

to keep men from spreading out while fighting and losing formation put guard mode on, it makes them hold their formation as much as they can. You can group units by choosing multiple units and pressing group with the picture of flags on the right.

the worst thing about this game is when u order an infantry charge and instead of the whole unit getting involved in combat, just the first line do while the rest stand back and watch, i usually end up ordering my men ta run to a position as opposed to attacking when they do this.

to attack with all units, try to deploy the batalion in "line" position, like two lines each one with 30 infantry (in a 60 batalion) and its finished, i usually do this

the way to keep all your men together is to keep guard mode on while fighting and to turn it off to chase routing units. It makes the men's priority to keep formation.

Medieval Total War 2 isn't real as Rome, because the cavalry don't break the lines, they just stop infront of the soldiers and fight as an "on feet soldier".

The cavalry, in Rome and in real world, strike and break the lines.

When you are setting up / deploying, the special ability of some archer units is stakes, but not during the battle, only before, during deloyment

Yeah, they took on hundreds of thousands of Persians with 300 warriors and until they were cheated out by a traitor, they were winning. XD And they were beaten by Romans because Roman legions had superior tactics and numbers, but Spartan soldiers were always the best in terms of courage and individual skill.

Unskilled, undiciplinned (sorry if the spelling is wrong, my english's not that good xD) and untrained Spear Militia can't take a heavy charge from knights trained from birth. The charge lances are huge, by the way. Spearmen only kill knights if they are in schildrom and the knights keep in melee, or if they charge already engaged mounted knights.

i usualy play the english team but most of there units suck in the early game but the there late units are realy gd or i am wrong?

you must specialise your regions to what is available to you. For example longbows are available to you early on if you upgrade your practise ranges etc. there should be emphasis on cavalry also. finally you should work on armour upgrades for your available early units such as levy spearmen. A medium sized early english army could consist of 6 units levy spearmen, upto 6 longbow men, and 6 units of cavalry the cavalry could be divided as 2 units light cavalry and 4 units heavy cavalry.
