I work for Blockbuster Video when i was19 i'm 23 now. the blockbuster i had my job interview at now closed. i know of 4 stores that have closed the one i work at is still open. and the one i live near by is still open.

they seem to be out of touch with products (merging with Tivo? who the hell has Tivo anymore?) It's just not a secure company to work for and they BS about how well they are doing when the truth is they are going down slowly...happened to circuit city, montgomery ward and pondarosa...also funcoland but I digress...with all the ipod's and downloads I dont see video stores lasting, tho I enjoy finding the smaller mom & pop stores great and am glad they outlasted Hollywood video:)

I was employed by BB for 4-5 years-good and bad the good? perks of free rentals and swagg! Bad...alot, some managers were typical corperate assholes, so much that I left on bad terms with my store bacause of a manager who after all my dedication and hard work would not transfer me to a new store due to my "sales" anyway it may be dying complete soon I forsee like you said due to redbox and online also on demand cable, but theymay still be online and thats it..their prices are outrageous and.....

Man, its like they say Live by the sword, die by the sword. Blockbuster put out of business a lot of small video rentals and now they are in trouble. Well time have change, I will miss going to the traditional stores thought.

Red Box... 6 months ago I was still using Blockbuster, we paid 9.99 a year for a service that made a lot of movies buy one get one free or .99 cents. We decided that even then at almost $5 a pop for new releases and the drive were just a waiste for us. We then started red box and/or web site videos. We are not big fans of net flix, thus far.

i have a pass for blockbuster video, which i go everyday for.

Basically it's like netflix, i pay 20 bucks a month to take out one movie at a time. So ill watch pick up a movie, watch it, next day get a new one. I'm gonna be pretty mad when I have to stop doing it, because i watch an incredible amounts of movies because of this.

I think this video was just for braggin rights NBA Jam and Judge Dredd. I sincerely miss shopping in video rental stores. The fact that blockbuster is tanking, and redbox is soaring isn't really convenience over quality because the quality of the movies at both are the same. I really do miss renting movies and checking out with them. I find myself buying them most often then renting them before, because DVDs themselves are cheaper than 10 years ago. Redbox is a great idea that needs some fixing.

I'm glad they're closing. They've always screwed their customers, even after Netflix came along and literally forced them to change their business model to something that screwed customers slightly less. They also put mom and pop's out of business left and right (although streaming movies, Netflix, and cheap DVDs have done that as well...)

good to hear. If you look the paperwork up on the web it has a full list of the stores closing. I went through a liquidation once when i worked for suncoast and i found it on the web weeks before they told us it was going to happen. Either way you should do a video talking about Blockbuster, and let people know whats up.

Hey Cam, I usually watch stuff on Hulu, or rent from Hollywood video. I've had problems in the past with BB saying I returned a movie late when I know I didn't. Anyway, It may be Netflix for me soon.

I don't think downloading killed them as much as netflix and redbox did. Which in essence is still a physical product. Though i don't rent I do like to go to stores and browse the stacks. You should do a video response to this as Id love to hear more thoughts on it.

long time coming....was only a matter of time. I really miss mom and dad video stores. there was a lot of charm to them. I think hard copies will always exist because people like to collect but digital downloading is the way of the future.

I almost always buy DVDs. I hate BB and the like. I never used them unless I had to. I would still to this day use the local mom and pop places in my area. I just hate places like BB that would move into a commuinty and run all the locals out of business. What Wal-Mart doesthis as well, but unlike Wal-mart these places are going under. I just wish Wal-Mart would take it on the chin.
