  • Awesome! I can tell you this is good because you have followed the 'clicks' sound flawlessly..you know..the metronome.. =)

    +1 Like for this video..

  • sounds cool i can tell you have a good set of other sounds you use

  • This music reminds me of Sonic. Great work.

  • What kind of music? Electro Dub Ambient?

  • @laromande It's Linux music. :-) Just call it House and add whatever word comes to your mind.

  • @flujotech yeah... I would say "Dub House"

  • Loving the sound of this man! Even better that it was created using Linux (;

  • Seriously!! Holy cow, that's good!!

  • Is it legal for you to sell music you made with LMMS? ? ?

  • @KISSAproductions It is not illegal to copyright and sell music you make with any FOSS application. The FOSS licenses have to do with the code and applications themselves. Anything made using FOSS as a tool, like this, doesn't get affected by the FOSS license.

If you were to make a new program using the source code of LMMS, that'd be a different story and you'd need to research it more closely.

  • @kingttx thank you!

  • @KISSAproductions As long as any samples you have used are cleared with the copyright holder yes.

  • @flujotech Thanks, it's clear to me now =)

  • Top Notch Maestro!!

I have 2 machine here. 1 Windows with FL Studio 9 & Sony Acid Pro 7. The other with just Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I'll install LMMS on that one instead of Ubuntu Studio!

Keep it up mate. Good Stuff!

  • LOOK LIKE FL STUDIO !

  • Very good stuff!

  • If LMMS is a linux port, can you run it with ubuntu?:D

  • @MisterTibTib If that is a serious question... then yes, if not, W U TRYIN CONFUZ ME?

  • top chill house song!

    LMMS is a great software!

  • Choice beat. I just started using LMMS and i now realize i need to less comlicate my own tracks that i have uploaded.

  • where do i put the plugins folder after i download it?

  • cool

  • Hell yeah!

  • wow. all of this using lmms only? amazing!

  • @blancman Yep. :-) Thanks.

  • Reminds me of many of the songs from the old Ridge Racer games on the Playstation 1.....brings back so many good memories

  • @Betamaxguy How things have changed eh. Do you remember seeing 8bit gfx and thinking it was amazing?

  • YES, finally!! I almost gave up my search for decent LMMS-made house/techno songs. Was looking for a reason to try out LMMS...and this is it. Just what I needed for motivation! Windows -alternatives are of course out of the question.

    Thank you

  • @shamaniac80 Also try Reaper. A good alternative while LMMS is still in alpha.

  • @flujotech Thanks, but I want to stick with something that runs natively on Linux. After listening to all your demo's then clearly LMMS is more than sufficient to make the deep sounds I like. The bigger question is AM I.... :-D

I have huge latency problems with Alsa in LMMS though... Maybe I should set up Jack.

Have you tried Energy XT btw? I just read about it... Don't know if it's any good for house music, I suspect it's better for acoustic sounds, but I could be wrong.

  • @shamaniac80 I played with it a little bit. It's pretty good but I didn't know what to do about vst's as the linux version didn't seem to load them. It's Nice program overall.

btw, check out AnseSource on youtube. He's made some really pro sounding tracks using LMMS.

  • @flujotech Hey flujotech, the reason why vst's dont work right off the bat is because you have to configure linux to recognize them. If you want to use a vst you might use in windows, you have to install WINE. WINE will make a virtual "C drive" that has everything windows does. You then copy the vst files there and presto.

I haven't started playing with linux yet, but I'm actually right about to install Ubuntu Studio. lol

  • Is there anybody, who can say me, how I can see the length of ma beat?

  • Hey Attention This Goes To Anyone :) I Noticed That LMMS Is Used The Most For Techno And Sumkind Like That. Well...."If U Like Hip Hop, Rap,Romantic, RnB Instrumental Beats That Are Produced In ___LMMS___ By ME Well PLease Go Ahead Check My Beats And Tell Me Wat Yall Think " Instrumental BEATS PRODUCED IN LMMS...Lates q:)

  • chill sound....on linux :)

  • 105 guys againts 3 little tirds that dont like this MWAHAHA jk

but anyways this is really cool

  • Could someone answer my question: Does the Spectrum Analyzer come as a default or do I have to download it? If I need to download it, please tell me from where. Thank You.

  • @XxIchigoXHalibelXx I think it comes built in. On Linux there are a lot of free LADPSA plugins that you can select in your repo (software downloader) but I don't know about Windows.

  • @flujotech Ok, one last question: How do I get to it within the program? Thanks again.

  • That was good dude. Really catchy jazz-techno kinda song.

  • @XxIchigoXHalibelXx Thanks.

  • I got this program and it is awesome! The greatist thing though is it's free! I am so psyched.

  • The only thing I don't get about LMMS is the SONG EDITOR. How do you use it by any chance? I can't figure out how to use FX - MIXER, CONTROL RACK, & the SONG EDITOR. All I know how to use to make the beats are the TEMPO & the BEAT + BASSLINE EDITOR.

  • @5876mg Try searching for LMMS tutorials on Youtube. Should be some helpful videos around.

  • @5876mg: Read the wiki of LMMS.

  • good work

  • @zin1ify Thanks.

  • Check out my LMMS beats here!

    /watch?v=Jmn6Boi1MHg

    /watch?v=oxt5LctI9Ko

  • tres bonne demonstration

  • @musicman59144 merci.

  • Soon LMMS will be like Blender or Gimp but for music :)

  • this is great . I've been using lmms for a while but I still have some stuff to learn

  • @guilloutube I'm going to revisit this program and see what happens. Might post a video or might not. :-)

  • @flujotech

how did you took this video ¿ is it in linux ¿ i would like to upload my stuff too

  • @guilloutube Yes it was made on Linux. You can use recordmydesktop, instanbul, recordscreen.py, recorditnow. There are many options.

If you are using JACK then you may need to record the audio separately depending on your audio card.

  • @flujotech

how did you took this video ¿ is it in linux ¿

  • @flujotech please do! ur amazing :)

  • how long did U need do make it?

  • I've tried to expriment with LMMS, but it's so hard to work with.

Fl Studio have lots of plugins and it's easy to find the plugin you're looking for because it's only one or two of each plugin.

I've been on Fl Studio since version 3.1 and i created a very simple song by minutes.

I think these creators of LMMS should take a look at Fl Studio and how it works and improve LMMS to a more "easy to work with" layout and key bindings like copy/paste/cut.

Fl Studio is still and will be my 1st choice atm

  • @spectrospirit Yeah I know. It (LMMS) is still in alpha. As much as I love Linux and the freedom it provides, audio software (and less so video editing) software is seriously lagging behind. The developer has done an amazing job with this though. If it reaches version 1.0 then it will be a serious contender. Right now it takes a LOT of patience to use. Anyone who uses Linux full time has to have that in spades anyway. ;-)

  • @flujotech Still, you did a really good work there even though i took some time.

By creating this track, you have really showed us what this studio can do ^^

I really hope for the best for LMMS, i'm optimistic because in the end, the freedom will win in the long run anyway, observe, try out, learn & even copy, make better and so on.

And the best part is that it's all free, so anyone who want to create a track, can do that :D

Pc but no OS? Free Linux, install, done!

    Studio? Done!

    Just sweet ^^

  • @spectrospirit

You couldn't have put it better. Here's to the developer > cheers <.

  • @flujotech But i'll seriously consider using Linux full time if i come across a program/ plugin that can make Fl Studio work flawless untill LMMS gets better.

Really easy to use, how would i make music otherwise?

I agree on the work he has done in developing this studio though, really well done and the colours isn't as boring as Fl Studio either.

I'm just waiting for it to be a serious threat to Fl Studio, can't wait for it to happen ^^

If it's good & free, then it should speak for itself too :D

  • @spectrospirit Its open source if your a developer u should check out the source code ;)

  • @007gorilla Easy to forget how complicated everything is underneath...

  • man, im making music in FL studio since 2004. Maybe its the best time to go forward and start to use LMMS instead. as i see its really powerfull and amazing thing. Nice alternative for "super-duper" Abletons which costs ca 750$ just for download option, and almost 1000$ for box !!! thats insane!! and LMMS is free and full of capabilities, essento make wonderfull music i guess.

  • It's taken me a hell of a time to find an LMMS plugin instrument with portamento (sliding notes). Can anybody recommend one?

  • @MyNameIsBucket You can use Synth1 with Vestige. That has portamento and a whole lot else.

  • Really very good sound into LMMS. I recorded some thinks in it into Ubuntustudio platform and I got surprised. But I use Ardour, EnergyXT, Renoise and Rosegarden more frequently than it.

  • @2212MA Of course, I couldn't forget ZynaddsubFX and qsynth

  • @2212MA ZynaddsubFX is nuts. With an updated interface, even better. We can hope.

  • @NickVocal Have you tried right clicking to see the menu. It should be there.

  • very nice.

  • you're amazing! This is some of that SMOOTH Jazzy electronica! MY FAVE!

  • @Niggs3000 Cheers. How's the weather in the Bahamas? :-)

  • DUDe i got to ask Dose FL studio Works on Ubuntu Studio !? or i have to use wine? !

  • @TheSepEvea

dude FL studio? :s wth! if you're on Ubuntu just use LMMS, no FL studio..

if you want to use FL just stay in windows..

  • @woutervddn

yeah but fl studio vs lmms has better synths (that u pay and or pirate of course)...the reason theyre better is becuase they have theyre own effects in the synths plugins etc preloaded giving u that great sound with out having to tweak...the down side is... every fucking song sounds the same...whether its on radio or here on youtube u can hear the same synths./effects in certain songs..

  • @True2TheBlueYoViGang LMMS is still in Alpha. There are still very basic features missing and to be honest I couldn't use it in its current state if I made music regularly. It's perfect for having a play with though. I just wanted to see what it could do and out came this vid. :-) Hope you guys do the same.

You can still fatten up sounds with the effects.

  • @flujotech

i was replying to someone else but there are pros and cons to each. pros fl studio is more stable and has many fun effects plugins and stuff cons to it is some ofd these plugins are like 5GB huge and only offer very little soudns for that huge size example - nexus!!!! LMMS - is lightweight but requiers much time and tweaking to get nice sounds(but its possible), it random crashes (u loose ur work), pros less space used on disc and comes with more sounds! didnt knw it was alpha btw

  • I see LMMS becoming a giant in the future, it's free, easy, and already starting to put up a fight with expensive professional suites.

  • I would really love you to make a tutorial on how to do this. Not very detailed, but a quick one.

    Very nice song.

  • For free software, it's a perfect production. Clearly you are no amateur. All the best!

  • Very nice song! =) I definetly would want to try LMMS out. It sounds promising.

  • excellent track and demonstration of the power of LMMS

  • This was by far the best demonstration of what's possible with LMMS and linux for music production, thank you very much.

  • The track is great and LMMS looks swell. But I couldn't get my USB audio interface recognized by Ubuntu. So although I've completely switched to Ubuntu for everything else, I still can't make music for now. Looks like I'll have to buy a different audio interface.

  • @kokoshmusun which is the audio interface you have? There's some that don't work. Ask in ubuntuforums, you'll find help there.

  • @MaghoxFr, thanks, I asked in the ubuntuforums but looks like my card doesn't work. It's a Phonic Firefly 302 USB card.

  • Nice song man!!!! Can you tell me where u get some of ur plugins?

  • This inspires me to make the switch to Linux for good. I've been learning to use alternatives for a couple of years now but I didn't know that audio/sequencing works this good.

    Thanks flujotech.

  • i like it! sounds great! ^^

ps: check my songs out! XP

  • amazing production, best track what I had listened whats made on LMMS so far! :O

nice work man (Y) thumbs up!

  • Yeah the beat was cool but check out my lmms beat :)

  • Does this software work on microsoft xp? is it good runnin on pentium 4, a 512mb ram comp? coz my granddad is selling his old comp but instead gave it to me. So I got a spare and dont know what to use on it until i found this.

  • @zackydean Yes it can run on XP and that comp should be ok too. In the wiki it says 1GHz CPU and 512 MB ram minimum.

  • this guy is a LMMS pro :)

  • @pakau hehe, cheers.

  • what is this song licensed under?

  • @JordanMaster22

    Attribution-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported

  • I'm working actually with Ubuntu Studio, and Rosegarden, Ardour and audacity, and I have no problems using it, because I use windows and mac, And the work is the same, only linux use less resources from Memory and Process, and I make god sound music too. Linux and LMMS Rules, thanks man for this video and nice track...

  • @royescobar1977 Thanks! ;-)

  • when i put the notes down i can't heaqr them it only lets me do it in the pinano one but i don't like that tbh can u help??

  • Not without more info. Maybe you could take a look at the LMMS website and have a look in the forums?

  • k i think i know what to do (:

  • Cool. What was the problem?

  • i think it was that i did not know how to use it but it is ok now thanks anyway :)

  • Good one. Might see a video up from you some time then...

    Enjoy!

  • ok thanks m8 ;)

  • Beautiful, thank you.

  • sounds so pooley to me love it .. jsut started with music and lmms .. so i can't figure out why everything works with jack other then playing some of the sample songs then i get kicked of the jack server and can't reconnect so easy =( any clues? thanks

and make more stuff like that it totally turns my crank

would u give me ur song and i try remixing it =)

  • Unfortunately LMMS doesn't work well with Jack. It's a shame because it would be a killer with it.

  • Thanks so much for creating this tutorial, you are obviously a talented individual, sharing your best work, just like the rest of the Open Source community who contribute their free time and energy to put out great software like LMMS, their knowledge creates the freedom we crave to create and you inspire people with your work. Simply outstanding.

  • Thanks dude. And for your other comments as well. Much appreciated!

  • I've been using this program for months and I still can't make music that sounds as good as this. Well done!

  • Thanks. It's all about knowing what you need to use to get the sound you want. That way it doesn't matter what software you use because all you do is find the nearest equivalent tool. A delay is a delay, reverb is reverb, eq is eq, etc.

Just make the most of your playtime and tweak away. That is the best way to learn.

  • Very well done.

  • Really good work! I've been trying this out before, but couldn't really get so much out of it, usually i'm using Fl Studio since i am used to it. Is there any good plugins yet for this one like delay, flanger, and other goodies at the time?

  • Try the TAP and caps plugins. If you are on Ubuntu just install the Ubuntu Studio audio-plugins and that will give you everything.

  • Top notch! =)

  • Thanks for all your comments! :-) I'm looking at Qtractor right now (on Kubuntu 9.10) and hope to have a video up featuring that at some point.

  • Wow lots of work went into this one and well worth it.

  • Great Job,

i used LMMS umder HARDy and it rocks,,,,,

regards Rudy and we rock the world with Linux

  • Superb!

  • thank you frnd. But i need this software. Now i don't have this one. i was searching for such a software which is free.. and now, i've started using ubuntu... thats why i need it.... Thank you.... Actually, is this a free software? please give me a link to this software download. Thank you.

  • Woww, it will take me out of FL Studio. But where do i get this software?

  • add/remove apps on your application list, ur use some form of linux right?

  • You need Linux first of all...

  • There is a version for windoze too. Go to the LMMS site (in info section), all the info you'll need is there.

  • The Windows version doesn't work very well on either of my computers.

  • @Envergure It's called LINUX Multimedia Studio with a reason? Speaking of Reason, try it on your Windows, I love it. There's also Cubase as well, of course :)

  • I don't like Reason. I have FL Studio. I would prefer Logic, but I don't have a Mac :(

  • Logic is a monster, I hope you get a Mac, with Logic U gonna fly...

  • Cubase is the one for me. For midi Logic used to win hands down but for audio Cubase is king and the midi side has caught up imho what with the midi plugin feature. The only thing missing is part looping, I seriously miss that.

  • FL Studio is probably the better option on Windows? For Linux this is the best thing so far, at least until Ardour gets midi.

  • Reason, to me, is the best option for Mac and Windows, I use it in both OS, but, LMMS is a monster...

  • Awesome song. When I used LMMS I thought it was choppy with the instruments. But this song is awesome.

    What plugins did you use?

  • If you use it with Jack and also if your latency is too low it'll be choppy. I used the internal plugins but tweaked the setting a little. You can use soundfonts with it as well - that's where the piano, bass and drums are from.

  • Great app! i was playing around yesterday :) nice song!

  • Fabulous! Demos like this really help in figuring out what is possible and which projects are still "live". The Csound-ish "music concrete" demos have a certain abstract appeal, but nothing like this.

Are the samples you're using here included with LMMS, available elsewhere, made by you, or ?

  • Thanks! There are a couple of percussion loops in the audiofile player but all the other samples are soundfonts, the drums, piano, bass; all available freely online. The rest is all LMMS, like the main whirley Rhodes type sound and the pads.

  • Cool program, i found this yesterday.

"Skiessi - Advance" is amazing track!

  • wow this program looks like FL Studio for Linux :D

  • Great show of LMMS' capabilities. By far the most full-featured song I've seen. It's about time someone did this. This should be linked from the lmms site.

  • @GoldBass

I absolutely agree. A tutorial on how you have done it would be amazing too.

  • Sooooooo Cool. 10 starts ;D

  • looks like a full featured DAW, very cool. not a linux user, but i'd use it if i was.

  • this is also available for windows,. just goto the download section in the lmms homepage .

  • Thanks to everyone who commented before. This is the last re-upload I promise!
