  • about the saddes movie I've ever seen...she was loyal to him to the end--all to be seen on netflix..

  • Does anyone know where I can watch this series online or anywhere on YT? It was the series that introduced me to the fabulous Francesa Annis!

  • Peter Egan's Oscar Wilde was unsurpassable. Oscar Wilde cultivated Lillie's success. He was in a way her PR man. He was inspired by her. She was his muse and he wrote her poem The New Helen. He slept outside her door when he was writing it, and would not see her til it was done. He said to her huband, my muse is timorous.......

  • Peter Egan IS Oscar Wilde.

  • I love bisexual Oscar Wilde :) !

  • Wilde was a bisexual from his days at Oxford through to the first few years of his marriage. After the birth of his second son his sexual relationships were exclusively with men(more than a few of them quite young . . .). But more to the point of this vid . . . I, for one, consider Egan's Wilde to stand above all others. Brill, memorable, and spot on! Cheers!!!

  • He mustve really loved his wife and had yearning for female body to have children I cant fathom hed go through all this jus to be accepted during that time then screwed it up by going public of his homosexuality..

  • in real life they were only friends. she was the mistress to the prince.

  • preeeettttyyyyyy sure he was just plain gay. He had a wife but in that time period it's not really indicative of anything...

  • This was such a great series. I made it a point to visit Langtry, Texas when I got the chance. This series also made me an Oscar Wilde fan. I do wish they would re-show this series on BBC America or Ovation or somewhere.

  • hermoso

  • This is a beautiful tribute to Lillie Langtry and Oscar Wilde. Beautifully put together with a sensational soundtrack. Truly lovely. "Lillie" the series is a 13 hour TV series, that is well worth a look - but this truly touched my heart. Gorgeous.

  • What a wonderful montage - loved that series - thanks for posting!

  • Was Bisexual!!

  • I got to know of Oscar Wilde only through this series . Thanks for these clippings !

  • Oscar Wilde is one of my favorite writers.

  • nom nom nom! Quemandole la cabeza a Lillie Langtry!

  • A truly wonderful portrayal of Wilde.

  • Amazing!

  • HA! How did the Smiths keep Morissey from gushing all over this piece? LOL.

  • This is the series that introduced me to Oscar Wilde and led to my enchantment with Classic Literature. Peter Egan is such a fine Oscar Wilde. I found a recording of him reading THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY -- his reading voice is superb.

  • @MrWilum

Oscar Wilde would have been a Bi-sexual as he was married to Constance Holland and had two children from her !

I know that he got into the great Victorian scandal due to his Homosexual activities but still he would have been a Bisexual if he was married to a woman !

  • @sahajad I believe that Wilde was completely homosexual after his marriage. I find his treatment of Constance (if I understand it correctly) to have been rather cruel, and part of his intense tragedy was the loss of his children at the end of his life.

  • This was the series that sparked my interest, and obsession, with period dramas. Does anyone know where I can watch it on line!

  • Bellissimo!

  • This is one of my very favourite videos on the whole youtube site - sheer magci, two amazing characters and such wonderful poetry! I love Oscar Wilde and I had never seen this series - but now I will buy the dvds and I can't wait to watch all of it! All of these people's lives and loves just teach us so much... even how to liv ourselves, sometimes. Thanks!

  • Very nice.

  • Oscar Wilde was a Homosexual and its a fact and i love his work

  • @dorotasz WAS BISEXUAL

  • @dorotasz: Was Bisexual!!

  • @dorotasz - - this video is not focusing on his erotic passions, but how Lillie inspired his imagination.

  • @dorotasz He also had a wife and kids!

  • That is so wonderful! I have loved this series since I first saw it when I was 14, I read the novelization over and over, I fell madly in love with both Lillie and Oscar, a love which though tempered over time has never faded. Thank you so much for this beautiful celebration, and to one of my favorite pieces of Smiths music! Absolutely perfect! I can't say here how much this series affected my life, but it was a profound affect, and you have brought it back to me, thank you!

  • Too bad, they woulda been sucha cute couple ^^ Great series, nailed the actors for the parts.

  • i heard that Lilie said that her daugther is from the Prince Louis of Battenberg, who married Victoria of Hesse (sister from Alix of Hesse)

was Victoria ever yealous if she heard about Louis old Love Lilie ???

was Louis and Lilie really so much in love ???

  • I love Peter Egan's Oscar Wilde! This is a beautiful tribute! I hope you do more! Or some clips... :)

  • Just saw this and enjoyed it,but I have more questions .

  • And what a lovely poem!

  • I loved this series when it came out in the late 70s. Your clips and music, as well as brilliant editing, make this yet another great video you have created! It's a wonderful tribute to Oscar Wilde and Lillie Langtry as portrayed by Peter Egan and Francesca Annis in this memorable drama. Thanks for sharing :)
