  • I know that we all have our favourites but for this song, there is only one version for me,The Clancey Brothers,it can be found on utube. It has much more feeling, also their version of Waltzing Matalda, just the best ever.

  • The best version by far!

  • Recorded as MacBride, McBride, Bride, Bryde, the diminutives Bridie, Brydie, and Bridey, this is a Gaelic surname of both Irish and Scottish origins. It derives either from the pre 10th century Irish Mac giolla Brighde or the Scottish Mac gille Brighde, and translates as "The son of the follower of St Bridget", one of the early Christian saints.

  • Excellent version of a very poignant song ,true to every word.i absolutly love this song .

  • @GlasgowCeltic88 should be the irish national anthem

  • @sanmigw how can it be the irish national anthem? it was written by a australian about a scottish soldier fighting for the british in france in World War 1. Did you notice that Ireland was not mentioned once in my previous statement? Your ignorance makes me laugh

  • @yiddos1971 You are right the song is nothing to do with Ireland except it commemorates the fallen of WWI some of whom were obviously Irish. The writer of the song, Eric Bogle, was born and brought up in the Scottish Borders. He moved to Australia in his adulthood. I saw him play in Kelso and he was asked if it bothered him that so many Irish bands mis-named the song ( ie the title is No Man's Land) and sang incorrect lyrics. "Disnae bother me as long as I get ma royalties" was his reply :-)

  • Sad one, but GREAT!

  • brilliant in fact they can't do much wrong in my opinion , thanks GC .

  • Your not wrong there! I love 'em ALMOST as much as I do Phil Coulter... Bothof who deserve more recognition that they currently get...

    Thansk for the comment TC.
