Dammnnnnnnn!!! As much as I love Pauletta, I've always wanted Denzel for Whitney, like I would have wanted Aaliyah for Pac/DMX/Nas, or Lauryn for D'angelo and Usher for Beyonce or Pooch Hall for Tia Mowry Hardrict...how crazy would that have been...but such is life...even though I am still hell-bent on Whit& Denz,or Pac & Baby girl(since w/ Jada it would never work out) !!!!!! :( Btw have y'all seen Denzel's newest trailer 'Safehouse', it looks like a 'Training Day Hit' in the making...Go C IT
I STILL LUV WHITNEY ALWAYS WILL& WAY MORE THAN MARIAH UNTIL THIS DAY LIKE WHIT SAID AT END OF THE SONG AND I DONT KNOW WHY. VOICE GONE & EVERYTHING STILL THINK UR THE BEST VOICE I EVER HEARD WHITNEY!!
@therealeben Are you serious? It had nothing to do with that. She released albums at a similar ratio to Michael Jackson. She released 2 albums in the 80's, 5 albums in the 90's (3 of those albums were soundtracks which accompanied successful movies in which she was the leading actress). 'The Bodyguard' was the biggest selling album of the 90's (when Mariah was in her prime), so its had nothing to do with her. Whitney also expanded her enterprise by moving into film production with great success.
@therealeben Her lowest sales were in the in the last decade. From 2000 she started to have more bad publicity, as her marriage unraveled and became tabloid fodder. It also coincided with the problems she was having with her voice (which began around 1994 on 'The Bodyguard tour' and gradually deteriorated in the years that followed) for a myriad of reasons including nodules, chain smoking and her drug addiction. It became more noticable in her albums and live performances.
@therealeben Mariah released albums at a rate of one album a year between 1990 and 1995. Don't forget that at the beginning of her recording career at Sony she wasn't a touring artist. She did video promos and live TV but she mainly concentrated on writing, recording and releasing albums at a rate more common with artists who recorded in the era (1950's-1970's) when albums were released very frequently. In other words, she released a lot of product/material at the height of her popularity.
@therealeben Whitney's career expanded beyond music. Besides acting (earning $10,000,000 a film before profit), she was concentrating on film and TV projects. She produced The Princess Diaries which was an international box office hit, among other projects. The notion that her career declined is not accurate. Her record sales declined but she had already moved into other avenues. No recording artist remains on top as far as mainstream commercial success is concerned. Whitney made other moves.
she said she was high everyday at the set of movie and recordings but it was really just weed but it was her at her peak so crack is wack but weed brought her career to new hights
I loved the whole album 'The Preacher's Wife'. Whitney sounded as great as legendary Elvis Presley in Gospel genre, maybe even better cause her vocal abilities are over any competitions. Real Queen of Voice!!!
i saw this movie when i was small...and this song stuck in my head.... "who would imagine i find happiness in someone i barbly knew when i like to take it slow"
OMG this is sooooo 90s and I wish i could go back to that era and be a kid again because I have on my i-pod is 90s music including this AMAZING SOUNDTRACK as well!!!

Man at one point no one and I do mean no one could sing like Whitney. This is a great song. Her voice was the best. I don't know if she can still sing like this but we will find out though with her new cd. Man, I sure hope so.

Don't fret here but as a realist fan, we must face the truth. This single was a BIG disappointment when it hit the charts, only reaching #77 in 1997; her previous low was the 1989 Aretha duet "It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be" which hit #41. The voice is still there, but it definately sounds different from just four years ago. We didn't know it at the time, but smoking/cocaine is clearly starting to have an effect here (She sounds more like a 40 year old than a 33 year old here.)
Dude. She's singing in a different style here. This is the same cd where she sang joy to the world and I believe in you and me. Those songs represent whitney at her peak. Charts are not a measure of great singing. Charts are only a measure of popularity. Some of her greatest songs where never single hits but they were on cds that WERE!
This song is so beautiful! Preacher's Wife is my favorite Christmas movie, I've got it on DVD! I live in Cali now where the Christmas spirit just isn't the same and this song makes it feel more like home. ;)
i love this song!!!! it gives me a fuzzy feeling...i think about m boyfriend and how it feels like i fall in love with him eachtime we are together...
