I never could understand why fully tracked apc's were not used instead of half tracks. They could have been better armored and would have better off road ability. For instance German half tracks didn't even have front wheel drive. They were always getting stuck in Russia.
Rudyard Kipling "Lest We Forget" 1897 beats Einsteins quote anyday......nothing wrong with remebering or playing out what happened so many years ago.......helps us Human beings remeber so that we may strive to never let this happen again

It reminds me of Einstein's famous quote, when I see GROWN UP MEN wasting their time and money PLAYING with guns, re-enacting the MOST HORRIBLE CONFLICT of the 20th century, while thousands of people suffer and get killed in REAL wars around the world every day.
dozens of versions were made, the basic one had an mg 42. but this seems like the sdkfz 251/9 version with a short 75 mm gun. they had many of those guns in stock after the panzer III became obsolete, so they just placed those guns on halftracks so they wouldn't be lost. pretty smart move, because this version could kill tanks at short range and support tank-less infantry.
the panzer III "N" was equipped with the 75mm KwK 37 L/24 gun, when the Pz IV came out, the N production was stopped because they were absolete. the stug III also had a version with this gun, when production was stopped, the remaining stock parts were used on other tanks, including the placement of the short 75mm on halftracks and recon vehicles.
they also spoke german back in the third reich sieg means victory they just achieved victory therefore making a shout of SIEG appropriate. U are truly a dumbass.
1. That was only a joke so taking it that serious makes you the dumbass
2. i am german (and for you ignorant bastard that ofcource explains why i am a dumbass) so i understand what sieg means
3. with my last comment i was just talking about sieg heil...the video stoped before the heil appears...that was the joke have a nice night and dont be so impolite mofo
hmm "But remember what came after a shouted "Sieg!" in the III.Reich back then " if anybody else can pick out any hint of jokingness well god bless them because i sure as hell cant. Im german to there pal.
Its ok...next time i will think of all the retards here on youtube...jokes that doesnt explain themselfs should be avoided here because you need to THINK! before you are able to laugh...well have a nice day
wow your pretty fuckin dense. here is your statement "But remember what came after a shouted "Sieg!" in the III.Reich back then". There is absolutly no evidence of kidding around in that statement.
Someone here said that playing WWII doesnt have anything to do with being nazi..then the sieg appears and of cource they did not wanted to say HEIL after the SIEG...which would make them look like nazis...explaining a joke destroys it...it was just about that the video stopped before the heil appeared (and of cource there was no heil in reality because they are no nazis)...man isnt that hard ive got enough of this
I don't see anything wrong with American's doing this. The German Army was respected for it's professionalism as a fighting force. Whether you're a Marine, Army or Navy, it's about respect for professionals who pound for pound were the most disciplined of all the fighting forces of WW2. It's similar to Northerners re-enacting Lee's regiments of the South. Lee did more with smaller forces and superior tactics. I think this is the spirit of these guys here.
yes, i also agree with the former marine here, .. something doesn't seem normal in US citizens re-enacting the dreaded SS units.. ?!?! ... If they are thinking about units as units from russian, american, british and german i guess it's ok, but if it is like the rise of Nazi thinking we see in estonia, latvia, etc.. it is worrisome.. peace people, and play COH if you want to play war.. it is safe and fun, .. playing both sides :)))
I´m a german. And I would be glad if we had more of WWII vehicles. But not for playing war. Just for museums. Germans wont play war. Especially not WWII.
Although it is interesting, there is something wrong about Americans reenacting German units - SS units for that matter. Why not reenact an American division? Im a former Marine so I can understand the novelty, but again it just doesnt sit right. Id like to get a Germans viewpoint on this. Each to his own I suppose
they could be reenacting the Wehrmacht, that wouldn't be bad, because they were just ordinary soldiers who had to do their job just like Marines, but I don't know about reenacting the SS lol
nothing worng with reenacting the SS, not all SS killed jews, not all S watched the camps, the SS were an elite unit, just like the Marines, its all about history...nothing wrong with it.
look I like the SS and the Wehrmacht, I'm German, but the SS did a lot of war crimes aka they did not take prisoners, there are so many reports of them shooting pow's
im german as well, english scottish too...but all armies commit war crimes...Our Marines killed japanese prisoners, our army killed German and korean pows...i can go on...but the SS were the cream of the crop...just ask ans US soldier that encountered them...when they hit an SS unit...all forward movment just stopped.....
The SS were a racist army though, so they did commit a bit more crimes then other armies but that could be because their commanders ordered them too. I'm half Scottish too lol
It's also important to point out, that no one in this video is talking about Nazi ideology. It's simply a reenactment. You can hear other gun fire in the background. You can't do a WWII reenactment pretending to fight Nazi Germany. I understand your concern, but no one is pretending to kill jews, or even talking how cool the Nazis are/were. Whether the Waffen SS, Kriegsmarine, Wermacht or the Luftwaffe. They all committed atrocities at some point during the war. The Americans did as well.
When miners lit the fuse on a charge of dynamite they would yell "fire in the hole". The dynamite was placed into holes drilled into the walls of the mine shaft. This was the "hole" the lit fuse "fire".
I would like to correct Herr Fallsshirmjager. Not all Americans treat these relics badly - most private collectors are quite proud of them and keep them well. Aberdeen, however, has given all of us in the U.S. a black eye. Yes, they do treat their rare panzers like crap and don't deserve them. This thing is a nice, and I'm sure the 12th takes great care of it. Danke.
These machines should be brought back to Europe, America treats its ww2 originals like shite and it just looks so wrong to see these machines in that kind of crapy american desert terrain.
You should see the amount of care and effort that goes into maintaining these machines before you state that "America treats its ww2 originals like shite". Obviously you've neve even been around these vehicles or you'd know that's not an original Stummel anyway dumbass. F-you...
U wish, ive been around ww2 original armoured vehicles all my life and frankly what u have there looks like a poorly kept machine in comparison to those in europe.
