  • Many not all black females know how or what to do with their natural black hair. It has never been shown in the media and in the past the only thing marketed was the kiddie perms for little girls. Products like "JUST FOR ME" That was my first perm at eight. I never saw my long natural length again folks. Now, thanks to YouTube. I got rid of my perm and my hair is back on my shoulders and it is real. I wore wigs so I didn't have to blow dry or comb too much there are great conditioners too.

  • @sheliene12 Many of us just need to get educated all over again this time about natural hair. So many I myself only know about perms and weave to cover up the damage that was done from the perm. now I don't do that but I was doing it lovely. I did not have a clue what to do with my natural hair and their weren't many example to go by or to look at. Everything was wavy or straight hair and great product for their natural hair. Our solution......Perm.

  • @sheliene12 Not knocking whoever is wearing perm. For me I was just tired of the routine and dealing with hair that won't grow. I don't have that problem now with my hair. Companies are out to make a buck. They are not interested in the health of maintaining natural black hair. I suspect this is why you don't see commercials on it. Well thanks to YouTube, I have seen some long natural hair do's that look cute and girly. Now my **s can go to the beach without restraint dammit! LOL! Headfirst!!!!

  • I think you got a point!

  • Your mom sound jux like mines lol

  • not most some.

my hair is relaxed but well taken care of by myself.

  • I hate when people think we can't wash our hair lol oh my goodness, I "wet" my hair everyday, but I don't use shampoo because that's stripping, but I shower everyday and my hair gets wet in the shower, so yes it can get wet everyday and not be damaged, It's so sad how man black people, have no clue of what's going on on top of our own heads. Makes me sad lol.

  • Been Natural for Five years.Just clean it with natural products and your all good. And don't comb it dry , preferably do it wet and with a brush! My hair is much longer since I've let it go!

  • Jigga-mane, turn up your mics gain. I can't hear you.

  • I don't care who hates it - Black or White. Why should I care what anyone thinks? They aren't going to get up and comb it, pay for the beauty salon or whatever. I got tired of having a perm - had it for about 36 years. I cut it all off -SHORT. I love it. I get down comments but I get a lot of compliments. Like I said who cares? People have their opinions and can keep them.

  • @sk8queen You must be single. I would get a divorce if my woman cut off all her hair.

  • @heartlessangel7 If hair is the only reason you are with your woman and not how she will support you, hold you down in good times and bad and be there for you, I would never want to be with anyone like you as well. It's selfish. You are free to do as you please yet I got to look, act, feel and be pleased as you want. GTFOH. Yeah, I'm single. I cut off all my hair and didn't have to answer to a soul for it. It's mine. It's rooted and it's mine.

  • @sk8queen Yeah, I sense some repression/hostility. Ummm, as you stated you can do as you please. No ones stopping you. It will take a special man to accept you BALD. As you stated. I ain't he.

My 5 year LTR ex actually messed up her hair & had to cut it off. She immediately grew it back tho. I did belly-laugh as she revealed it. She had a rag on her head for 2 days b4 I noticed.

  • self hate, programmed, no knowledge of self. no 1 wants to be associated with Africans, yet we forget its our skin color that makes us who we are. ur hair str8, cut, bald, wuteva, ur still African. Nothing you can do, even your lack of ability to claim we are still African doesnt change the fat that we r just that. might as well love it, embrace and represent it cause if u cant love urself who will? no otha race desire 2 look like us but we try so hard to look like eveybody else. smh

  • @naturalblkbeauty Just like Paul Mooney said, "Everybody wants to be a n*gga, but nobody wants to be a n*gga." Lol idk why I picked that, but I thought it made sense at the time.

  • LMFAO WOW I LOVE YOU

  • It's funny, because i used to say the same thing, "i'm black i can't wash my hair everyday" LOL. As if my hair had certain disadvantages because i was black. It's not that i CAN'T, It's just not good for the hair, because the chemicals in shampoo strip it of it's chemicals (i did not know that then). Thank god i grew out of that ignorance. But i totally agree with you!

  • its not just African Americans..... its black people from all over the world

    Africans

    Black British

    Afropeans

    Caribbeans

    South Americans

and Black people that come from other places on the globe.

this issue effects people that have been colonised or enslaved and effectively systematically brainwashed by white people. many black people have been conditioned to hate themselves and love anything that is eurocentric

  • @Applebaum agreed!

  • Lmfao, I'm sorry but this is the funniest video I've ever watched. You are definitely right though. It's really sad that our people have so much negativity towards our natural hair. I mean, nappy, thick hair is a creation that we got from God, and if we took the time to research how to take care of our hair-it'd be easier to handle. :)

  • I went to hs with a guy who had been growing his natural hair for 4 years & his mother came to his football practice & pulled him off the field because she found out he had went to school that day with his hair not braided or covered. She took him strait to the barber shop & got his hair cut all the way down to a fade. She told him he shamed her that day & people judge her based on his appearance since she's his mother. Sad!

  • @THEREALCANDI Wow! He couldn't stand up to her? All those years and SHE decided he had to cut his hair?

    That's sad.

  • i used to be the same way....ignorance...i just didn't know any better. i was taught all my life to hate my hair. nobody EVER told me it as beautiful. i know different now and it's only because of youtube and forums online....thank God for this place cause i got young daughter that has been weaved up for most of her life but now i can teach her to love her hair cause that's how i feel about my hair.

  • I love my hair it is natural right now, however like I said before I don't want to hear this b.s from ANYONE who is like "oh I don't like people who don't have natural hair" becuase the same people will turn around and call us nappy. HYPOCRITES? YEA I THINK SO. on the other hand people NEED to learn how to deal with their natural hair. What people don't know is most of the hair products they use are counterproductive anything with mineral oil or petrolatum DOES NOT MOISTURIZE!!!!

  • a year?! wth

  • loooooollllllll ..omg diss is so funny!!!!!

  • AMEN!

  • if it grows long enough... itll end up being more wavy than nappy.

  • Too bad some black people can't get over natural hair...they are silly. At least you have a good attitude.

  • i am very proud of you young man.........i wear my hair natural and so does my son and my daughter. i sometimes hav relatives ask me about my hair and i always tell thm the same thing .... im black and this is the hair i was born with ...i lov my huge fro tho........stay strong young brotha

  • You are very wise for your age . I'm glad you made this . I hope more young people learn to love who they are.

  • ) 4. ) A scalp that's free from dirt is one of the steps in achieving healthy hair . How healthy can an extremely dirty scalp be . Hair grows out of a healthy clean scalp at a faster rate then a dirty hair follicle ridden scalp.

  • 3. ) Seriously dude, you need to sit your sister down and have a serious talk with her about all the damage she is doing to her hair by not washing it. I'm not saying she should be washing it everyday...because noone should no matter the race , it's not good for your hair. But she should wash it at least every 3 to 4 days for a healthy scalp ( I wash every other day and condition everyday and my hair reaches my elbows .

  • 2. ) WTF is wrong with your sister ? OMG . Her follicles must be so clogged with dirt and oil ( thats why the growth get's stunted because the hair has to push up through all that dirt and all the accumulated oil , and not conditioning your hair on a regular basis causes major breakage not just for Black people but every race ) wow WTF .

  • 1. ) Damn, she hasn't washed her hair in a year ??? ewwwww. I'll bet your sister's hair is short isn't it ? THAT'S one main way to stunt hair growth... Plus.... not washing your hair or scalp in a year is fucking nasty . Helloooo . I can't imagine not washing my hair for a year, her hair must smell really bad eww. When you sweat helloooo, that shit gets trapped in your hair until you wash your hair a least twice in a row .

  • Comment removed

  • lol your funny but a year though! why dont she wash her hair

  • makes sense it's so many of us out here that can't get with what grows out their own scalps..

  • black ppl just havent been educated on how to take care of their hair, bottom line. my friend's fiancee told me to cut my hair so it will grow.....????huh? lol. its just a lack of education on our hair. good vid

  • oh yeah, and i was gunna say who the fuck makes up the rules about what looks good and bad anyways?!?! i have some long-ish (4-5in? its long to me, had short hair all my life and got bored), black, mad thick, wavy ass hair, and i love it! but the other day i was online and people were posting some shit about oh my hair is wavy how can i straighten it? and i was like what the fuck? i like wild hair better than straight tame hair anyways, fuck normal shit, stand out!

  • haha, its funny tho that it's jus black people that hate it, i'm white and ive never seen kinky hair and thought it looked bad. ive always just seen it like 'it is what it is', not right or wrong. personally i have to say that a black girl wearing her hair natural can definitely look really hot, and i think its because when its natural theres an added level of comfort or chillin-ness. plus you can do cool stuff with black people hair, i can't get away with braids too easily lol

  • @gh0st0824 Wow your comments are always so informative.. I agree black woman have more of a sexaple with natural hair than straight thats just my personal oppinon though...

  • @Appplecidder haha, that's my middle of the night rambling mode

  • @gh0st0824 Maybe you people hate your hair because it's like barbwire. Funny how you peple really want to be white if you could

  • right on but one yr lool thts triflin

  • I went natural when i had a bad relaxer job---didnt do the big chop----. Ive had relaxer since i was 13--my hair fell out at 49. I cant believe that black people STILL don't know how to take care of our natural hair..i know black women who are married to white men who have natural hair, and their husbands are ...gasp....CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS !! it is just a problem we black people seem to have

  • @Mor3ThanAPrettiFac3 Lol.. I am glad that you enjoyed the video.. That is so true guys have the same natural hair as everyone else lol..

  • Lol you’re too funny. I live in a predominately white area and I love to wear my afro and its obvious makes people nervous. I think people associate the afro with 60’s-70’s, black power and a metal pick in the hair.

  • @vjmc418 Yes that is so true because everytime I wear my fro they say ohhhh that is so 70s..Its so dumb how can my nautral hair be a time period... And thanks for the love...

  • @Appplecidder oh preah it!!!!! and my mum always makes me comb out my bantu-out!!! so anoying

  • @tyronerodriguezuno lol.. Yea my mom hated my twist out that i just did.. But then i got like 3 compliments later that day.. black folk is so crazzy at times..

  • Thank you baby for this video. I have been transitioning, and ppl are looking at me like I'm crazy. But we're not meant to have straight hair, cause we weren't born with that hair type. These fools that hate on what you have to say have issues with self-love. At least you are speaking the truth. God Bless you.

    Ebbie

  • @ebbiesart Yea i can't stand when People look at me crazzy like they don't have the same hair type as mine smh lol.. When in actuality if they did not have a perm the hair would be my texture. I hope all goes well with your transition and may you have a blessed day as well.

  • @Appplecidder .... Thank you. Its funny when ppl tell me, Oh you got that "Indian Hair, don't you"? or the famous, "My hair wont grow like that" line. PPL are just foolish & uneducated. Black ppl aren't meant to "blend in" to society, we're meant to stand out! Thats why God gave us our skin tone & hair texture, because he wanted us to be different. PPL need to embrace their differences, not hide them. You have a blessed day too.

    Ebbie

  • You said it so well!!

  • @adwapor thanks

  • I like how you said, "this is the hair that grows out of my scalp and I'm sorry if you don't like it..."

  • True

  • i dnt like nappy hair cant do nothing with it but braid get draids or a bush or fro so u can say what you want i dont care ive been stop worrying about what other people think u are not taking care of me so let me do me and you do you and this world wil be a better place

  • @2hottric No there are plenty of things you can do with it.. There are braid out, twist outs, coils, coil outs, wash and gos, ect. So don't tell me you can not do anything with nappy hair. Ohh yea and by the way you can take that negativity some where else because my page is for the positive only. Thank you for commenting.

  • @Appplecidder Awesome reply!!!!!!!!!! You said all the things I wanted to say!!!

  • Could be worse. You could have a huge bald spot like I do. Any hair is better than no hair, let me tell you.

  • i don't know why black people are so ignorant towards hair it is so disgusting to me to hear our own people say such ignorant things. people dog me out about my shit all the time, but ignorant people like that you got to ignore b/c they don't know any better and they have a one track mind. and its so funny b/c the main people that always got somethin to say have the most atrocious hair!

  • @93lovelythang Wow you never lied the ones always talking bad about your hair have the worst hair habits. Thanks for the comment.

  • I dont care I love my hair its better than whites not sound racist but honestly all white ppl could do with their hair is leave it out & throw it up in a pony tail & maybe some other things too but us black ppl got more style to our hair the only thing we hate bout it is being nappy but other than that shit..I love my hair!!

  • You said that your mother doesn't like when u braid out your hair but it looks good to me.

  • Thanks thats actually how I was wearing it yesterday in a old braid out..

  • But a Year with No washing.

  • Lol.. Yea A whole year its not really a good look lol..

  • let me juss say i love ur video. everything you said is true, and forget what other people think about our nappy hair i love it you love we good lol

  • thank you so much for your kind words...

  • lol. "black people can't be washing their hair all the time."

...ok. so you think it's acceptable not to wash your hair for a YEAR?

way to go man. i am glad to see someone who appreciates their hair as God made it.

  • I loOVE natural hair and my naptural people. I wore an afro (natural hair) for 4 years almost...just got it relaxed again for my 36th bday on Monday... Love it that way also. Nappy hair is outstanding but versitility is gorgeous also

  • I love dis video because my family is the same way even though we all have anywhere from 3a to 3c hair everyone else perms their hair and because I went natural and rockin my curls, they always have something to say... Love yourself love your hair no matter what!

  • You are a VERY wise young man!!!!! Wow!

  • thank you so much that means alot..

  • natural is nice but but most of the world dont like it

  • @FIGHTFANNERD3 oh well

  • @FIGHTFANNERD3 - Who cares what MOST of the world thinks? Many are IGNORANT about the cosmology of BLACK hair. In Africa, it is called the PROOF - that a black man is REALLY black. For without it, he is distanced from authenticity. That is the CUSHITIC standard.

    Ashe!!

  • its the phsycology of the whites when we was enslaved.why would they make us pick cotton its wasnt the most important crop it was actually corn back then.picking cotton leads to us hating our own hair just a thought.its near the same texture.plz dont think Im vicitmizing cuz im not when people study you with actual scientist to determine how to control you it gets that deep. if you hate yourself you cant reach the level you supposed to reach in life feel me.

  • braids...pardon my typo. An afro is beautiful.

  • I am currently transitioning to my natural hair and styling it is not hard to me. I'm almost 4 months into my transition and I've been watching youtube vids on how to style my particular type of hair. I think black people are too afraid to show their hair because of the reactions to it in the past. I'm tired of that. I've been relaxed since I was 6. Now I'm 20 and I like the way my natural texture looks. I can't wait until I'm fully natural. Some claim they can't do their hair but they don't try

  • That is so true and thanks for commeting on my vid much love..

  • You're welcome! I just think that the black ppl doubting their hair, should atleast give it a try. It's not as "BAD" or "UNMANAGEABLE" as people think it is. I just wash and style. When you don't have a relaxer, you don't have to be afraid of water.lol and I wash every 2 days!!!

  • bekuss it looks ghetto on me!!!

  • No it looks fabulooouse on you gurr you just have too learn how too take care of it... How you doen

  • I will admit...I relax my hair. only b/c i've been getting relaxers ever since i was 11 and it's the only hair i'm used to. i LOVE natural hair, i think it's so beautiful and more healthier than relaxed. i would love to go natural but it makes me scared. 1) what if i don't like it? 2) I don't want to cut all my hair off to regrow it natural & 3) i have NO experience about how to style natural hair. :(

  • There are so many videos on youtube that has taught me how too style my own natural hair... If you dont like your hair natural you dont have too get a perm you can get your hair flat ironed or blow dryed.. theres plenty of alternitives...

  • wow @ your mom's reaction to you wanting to wear your natural hair! now you know where your sister's feelings about her own hair comes from.

my mom didn't care about my bro's hair when he wore braids. her view was...hey, it's your hair. lol

  • For most people It's hard to wear natural hair especially when a person have been getting their hair perm/relaxer from a young age. You somewhat become addicted to the method And with the lack of knowledge on caring for your hair type you won't be successful. I was 1 of those people but I came to a point now were I'm just tied of relaxing and now educating my self on my hair type. In addition support from other people will help me achieve my goal.

  • i like what you had to say about this topic.

whats funny, is that some of your mannerisms remind me of another youtuber, Africanoboishow - if you dont know him look him up - kinda crazy - it like your his mellowed out little brother lol

I hope in the future that you get a better quality camera, because i would love to hear your thoughts w/o being distracted by audio interference :)

Youve got a new subscriber, hun

  • Lol... Yea I know who africanoboi is lol... He is too funny... wow I never been compared too him but yea hopefully in the futer I can get a better camera thanks for subbing

  • i wash my hair twice a day. lol.

  • you are soo right...and not washing the hair for a year...yikes i couldn't do that lol

  • I know and once she too her braids down her hair was see threw... Its sad but some people wont listen too good advice and my sister hair is paying for it in the end...

  • she needs to cut that off and go natural...that is sad...poor hair

  • Yea half her head is natural and she is permed in the front

  • what? omg that sounds just horrible...i am praying for her hair

  • Lol... Thanks for keeping her in preyer lol....

  • your welcome lol

  • well dam u left me hanging at the end

  • Lol.. Im sorry im going too make a part 2 when I have time...

  • yah like wait who turn out the lights? what the heezy

  • Well , my hair is completely natural and I love it. Theres nothing wrong with having natural hair even though its a hassle at times but if you take care of it then you should have no problem. I usually have my hair in box braids one month then i'll wear my real hair for another; washing it like every week. & the conditioner is a must! for me, i have alot of hair soo its really a pain to wash but once you do and blow-dry it, its just as versatile as permed hair. plus it doesn't fall out as easy.

  • That conditioner tip should have helped her out! lol. I'll be on the lookout for part 2!

    Nice braids!

  • Ohhh It did help her out quite a bit lol... and thank you so much..
