a month ago i updated my captivate to gingerbread 2.3.5 via samsung kies, know i got it root it, but when i try to get to clockmod recovery, it gets to the phone normal recovery :S help please D:

I recently installed the 2.3 update, and it slowed my phone down quite a bit. Will upgrading to 4.0 speed it back up again? And will these instructions still work when upgrading from 2.3?

It Worked I'm Running Ice Scream Modafocking Sandwish on my Captivate way better than Gingerbread 2.3.5.I had to do every thing from stock guys root allow non market apps and e3 installer plus clock workmod

@tjames20 DO NOT EXTRACT EITHER ZIP FILES! leave them as zip files and put them on your sd card (preferably in a folder) or else they wont be displayed in clockworkmod recovery.

so im on gingerbread 2.3.3 on my captivate, i have rom manager downloaded but my phone model isnt under the list they give me. They only give nexus s, nexus s 4g, epic 4g, and galaxys i9000. can you help me please

@jordanll94 flash your device to stock, get 2.2 froyo redownload rom manager and click samsung captivate in the drop down menu...took me like 6 hours to figure it out but its easy.

Thanks!  I just loaded ICS on my Captivate and it is absolutely awesome... insanely fast, too. I do have one huge problem though, my exchange activsync calendar refuses to work, email syncs fine, but the calendar instantly fails. Any ideas?

everything works great just about..battery life is okay.. I have used my phone for maybe a combined 30-45 mins and its been on battery for 6 hours and 23 minutes. Current % is : 71%. Problems: Wifi has an option to shut off automatically when in sleep mode to save battery. However, this option is stuck on, on. If you disable that, it turns off in sleep mode, if you enable it, it turns off in sleep mode. cam works, phone works. I would say 95+% of everything works flawlessly. Very fast. 8/10.

@gephross100 I hope so, cuz I just flashed mine last night and this is my daily phone. So far it works great. Only issue is that my damn exchange calendar stopped working with ICS, and it seems to be a common issue. And yes, you must be rooted and use cwm.

@jayaguilar12 ok I had the same problem. But i found out that if you extract the file before you put it on your phone it doesnt work. Keep the file as it is and put it on your phone as a .zip file. Thumbs up for everyone with this problem!

@drousseau1975 XDA Developers has kernels with clockworkmod built in. They can be flashed with Odin which can be downloaded from XDA.

@maCoooooLet i reccomend that you first flash to another rom... say MIUI. then try to install it. thats how i did it so see if it works for you. Ill try to make a new easier video showing you how to install MIUI on your cappy

@jonnybozfoo just install the rom, without doing a factory reset; wipe cache and dalvik cache; install the newest version of the google apps from the forums post. reboot, and you should be set.

@MetaBX i can actually tell you right now! just download ROM Manager form the market, don't worry, its free. accept superuser permissions. select where it says flash clockworkmod recovery. choose the ATT samsung captivate, and it should download and flash. then select rebbot into clockworkmod recovery. if it takes you into the old recovery, just select reinstall packages. and it should be there after.

I downloaded ClockworkMod just like you mentioned and there is no option for Samsung Captivate. The closest match was Samsung GalaxyS i9000. So, I selected that and it says that it successfully download ClockworkMod recovery. Then I try rebooting into recovery and I keep receiving the following errors:

"E:failed to verify whole-file signature

E:signature verification failed

Installation aborted."

Please help!

@jonnybozfoo you can flash your phone right now if you wanted to, you would just have to backup all of your personal stuff like contacts, apps, the usual.. and yes everything does work. besides. if you do brick just watch my video on how to unbrick your phone. GOOD LUCK : )
