  • Couldn't agree more with WillShakespeare2007. Productions of Rameau operas are as rare as hen's teeth in the UK, and I love his music, but as soon as I saw it was going to have roughly the visual appeal of a car boot sale I couldn't bring myself to part with the cash - times are hard. So sad.

  • Millions in funding and the give us an empty stage and cheap suits for costumes. I was going to go see this but now will skip it. There's a recession on ENO, if normal people are going to shell out this kind of money we want a complete product, not what looks like an improvised version in street clothes. If you want to do a modern Opera then commission one. You describe the opera as a work of ethereal beauty, do you think guys in cheap suits visually represent that? Seriously?
