@andyroma, estoy de acuerdo contigo en la eterna pelea que tienes con bodiloto&cia. Los argumentos de bodiloto son de mala baba y a veces llega a contradecirse en su ansia de meterse con PD. No entiendo por que le tiene tanta envidia. Que no le guste lo puedo entender, pero no que le insulte de esa manera.

Leona Mitchell makes the opera here - my opinion. Domingo is seized by her sincerity and he`s so really emotional (it happens not so very often!). Voices - and the whole, ( Levine too!) - just GREAT! Suppose that 1988 performance was one of the greatest " Turandots" - of all times. Though - sorry- I don`t like Eva Marton so much.

@andyroma72 : ha ragione il GRANDE BODILOTO, Calaf non era un ruolo adatto alla voce di PAMINGO, per il semplice fatto che, per " Turandot," serve un tenore con degli acuti decenti ( CALAF = FRANCO CORELLI ). A proposito, è questa la famosa " Turandot " in cui PAMINGO ha steccato un do acuto accanto alla GRANDE EVA MARTON ( vai a vedere / ascoltare il video di cui ti ho già parlato, vai ... Puccini died after Liu death scene. For me, Turandot opera should end there. Liu's death will be immortalized as the greatest sacrifice for her lover (although he's just a douchebag) and the real victory in this triangle love affair. After her death the rest of the opera is very boring and stupid.

Well, the completion of the opera is based off of Puccini's own sketches and wishes. He wanted the duet between Turandot and Calaf and the ultimate crowd and happy ending.

Liu's the HEART of Turandot: Puccini's wife was just like the cold and mean Princess. His wife accused him of sleeping with their children's governess--who killed herself over the scandal! Dying of cancer while composing Turandot, Puccini stopped work on it just after Liu's suicide and Calaf's reproach of Turandot (Principessa di morte) yet he worked on other things for 6 months before he died! If Puccini really wanted a happy ending, he'd have left Alfano more info to finish the opera with...
