Honestly, the song may be catchy, let's face facts that our beloved Uncle Walt, upon whose life the mouse is based, cannot sing well. But really, Walt was used to only squeaking for Mickey & Minnie before the commercial success of Steamboat Willie as the first "talkie" made him consider doing the full-on voice work for the mice couple, before his smoking habit made him surrender the role to Jimmy MacDonald, who told Wayne Allwine to "Remember, you're only filling in for the boss."
@TherealRNO God, I can't believe Wayne's gone now. Each 'Mickey' has been astounding in his own way, in my opinion. Iwan's not half bad either, but man...I can't believe Wayne's gone!
This was a special animated "trailer" for those movie theaters that held "Mickey Mouse Club" meetings at their children's matinees, beginning around 1930- this was the official "club song", written by Carl Stalling and originally introduced in a 1929 Mickey cartoon...
:)) Love it!

In fact, the fact that Walt had a raspy voice due to his smoking habit was probably why this short was redone with different audio later.

@TR0Nx1982: Me too. We'll miss him, but Iwan will surely carry on the legacy when prompted to do so.

i wonder what it'd be like had Carl Stalling stayed with Disney since he is the one who came up with this for Disney :P
skateboardjumps 6 months ago
@skateboardjumps: WB wouldn't exist, because Stalling's score & Iwerks' animations later defined Warner Bros.' early work.

I never knew, until recently, that the original voice of Mickey Mouse was, not surprisingly, Walt Disney himself. :D

EmilyGreene: Well, Mickey and Minnie ARE the anthromorphical mice versions of Walt and Lillian Disney, just like Kermit is connected to Jim Henson.

I wonder why they used a V in place of a lowercase W?
(buzz sav, bov vov, etc...)
blinkingblythe 4 years ago
It's not a v xD
Because of the font, the first line of the w looks like it's glued to the other lines, looking like a v.
