Yeah, the U.S.A. IS the world leader except when it comes to leaving petroleum dependency....It is the IMPERFECTION of our capitalist system to BE LAST when it comes to hurting the car companies OR the oil companies.....Those are CAPITAL sins.....
Oil companies have gotten away with MURDER, and so have car companies, but their days are numbered.....Pay back IS a bitch......We will see new sources of fuel VERY soon.......
Israel makes sense as the first place to try this out on a mass market, the Arabs have most of the oil and they don't much like Israel, it's also a smart move as peak oil is becoming an issue

I can understand using Nissan for technology. But Renault, I don't know. I bet it will be difficult to repair.

Project better place could only work in a country as small as Israel. There will be no competition, no innovation, and no choice.
To think this would work in the US or other large countries is naive.

Israel and Nissan are now leading the race that most governments and car makers don't even realize it exists...

Hooray for DATSUN ! ! ! It was the very first
new pick up we bought in 1973......Now they will pioneer electric cars.....

Wow .. a real electric car and infrastructure ..
It's much needed in all countries, so it is nice to see Israel lead in this project.
But why wait three years till 2011? The technology exists now and production can begin anytime.
