i dont know which is worse...having these wonderful creatures in our lives for a season or a lifetime. my kodi is going to be 14 this year, and just the thought of him leaving our family....i am so sorry you lost him...prayers

@lileeza Thanks.. I don't think I've cried as hard about an animal as I did about him. To add insult to injury, the breeder who I got him from felt sorry for me and gave me another kitten - the half brother of this one. I've had him only 3 weeks and he was always behaving a little strangely, and then yesterday and all through the night he started having epileptic seizures... now it would seem this is more than just bad luck. I feel positively ill.

I think beautifully somber would be the best oxymoron to describe this lovely tribute, visceral video. My 2 doggies are still with us, yet I feel I can relate better than many who have lost pets. My first pets ever 'cause I've always been allergic- still am, but the first was a gift and I couldn't part with her. She soon needed a friend for the long hours I wasn't home. So... @Klayre Some say it can be equally intense to get over the death of a pet as of a fellow human. In fact, with people, you can have mixed emotions surrounding their deaths, but with an animal it tends to be unconditional love. That's why we cry so hard about it I think.

As I watch this my cat, a grey tabby, a farm cat, comes and sits on my lap!

I have had many pets in my life because most have been middle-aged.They were strays or rescue pets. I've even become accustomed to their deaths which are so important to deal with humanely, not selfishly.

Looking back, the most unalloyed pleasure in my life has been walking with my dog in the woods. It beats sexual love and parental love every time, which do not last.

Strange that no songs have been written about this.

@duckbiter Unfortunately this kitty love didn't last either.. maybe nothing does. Maybe it's just about allowing things to flow in and to flow out again and be grateful for the magic when it happens.  Would be a good subject for a song too. I did write a little ditty about my kitty but I haven't polished it and the lyrics are loose. Might have to make it a project.

@jkilcull He was my furry lover. He made eye contact with me like no other cat I have ever met and he would hug my with his little arms wrapped around my neck when I picked him up. Sometimes he would reach a paw out and touch my face when he was lying on my belly and he was on my lap every other minute. It was like he always wanted full body contact.
